http://www.shrewsburytown.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10443~2603992,00.html Nice article regarding preventing frost, cost of undersoil heating, and other solutions. Basically all are too expensive! Undersoil comes in at £2000 a day on top of the initial £400k outlay!
I agree. Whilst the postponements are irritating, no club in the lower two leagues should really be able to afford such systems. As an aside, I do think the Town site could do with an editor; every article seems to have four or five typos or grammatically incorrect sentences, and it doesn't reflect too well on the club as well as being a little irksome to pedants such as myself.
There is a chap called IanWhit (his Shrewschat name) who appears to do all of that. He did claim a while back that the 'interviews' were direct grammar quotes, but i think there are a few too many spelling mistakes on there.
These pampered footballers nowadays are too over protected. John McGovern on Late Kick-Off reflected that in his day, provided the surface was not rutted, however hard the ground was, the game would go ahead. It is worth reflecting that one of Shrewsbury's most famous games (v Man City in 1979) would not have been played.
