Leaving aside the issue of whether Terry should have retained the captaincy or not, I find it incredible that the decision to remove him appears to have been made by the FA and not Capello. Surely he must have been consulted before the announcement? If this isn't the case, then I have sympathy for him, regardless of whether you agree with that decision or not. Taking this out of his hands made his own position untenable and he had to go. His comments this week made it inevitable.
Having said that, his appointment as England manager cannot be considered a success. Frankly, he has failed to take England any further forward than Eriksson. Everything looked really good during the World Cup qualifying campaign. But then the tournament itself was nothing short of a disaster. Strange selections. Odd tactics. Terrible results.
His reinstatement of Terry as skipper was silly and misguided.
There is no other credible candidate than Redknapp and perhaps, just perhaps, we have a better chance of advancement with 'Arry.
