Is Danny Wellbeck realy good enough to be a first team regular, don't get me wrong I like the kid, and he's a local lad, but he isn't in the same class as Hernandez, and never will get to his level, in my view.* It has just wound me up on quite a few occasions this season to see Hernandez on the bench and Welbeck in the team.* Welbeck works hard, and links up well with Rooney, but he doesn't have the same clinical edge infront of goal, and poachers instinct that Hernandez posseses.* Fergie obviously rates the lad highly, and I don't like to question his judgement normally, as he has been brilliant at judging a youngsters potential, and bringing them into the first team over the years. But I think this time he has it wrong. I don't want people to think I'm laying into Welbeck as he is a good player, but I don't think he will ever be good enough to be a first team regular for us, I only realy see him as backup, if Rooney or Hernandez are injured.*
Personally I have never liked wellbeck, but that as all changed I think he has massive potential. I agree that sometimes hernandez is much better suioted to play certain teams, but i think wellbeck can be a great united player
How come you lot play Welbeck over Hernandez? I had a £5 on Hernandez to get top scorer this season! Is Fergie planning to use him like Solskjaer?
Stuck £5 on that and £5 on Chelsea to win the league. Odds for Hernandez were 10/1 and for Chelsea 3/1.
He's been injured off and on all season. Welbeck has a better all around game than Hernandez, but Hernandez is the better finisher. Best in the league IMO. Welbeck has more potential than Hernandez, but I still think Chicha should be starting ahead of Welbeck.
Chichrito has better finishing but in games where we don't have much possession I'd rather have Welbeck because he has better link up play and can play as winger. Chicharito at times makes us look as if we're playing with 10 men.
I agree for the most part. When Chicharito was playing against Stoke he looked a lot better than usual in his all around game, and he seems to have gotten much bigger/stronger. There were a few times he muscled off two big defenders and won the ball and kept our attack going.
I do not have a problem with Hernandez sitting up there, and rarely getting involved in the build up play, we already have Rooney dropping deep, so we don't need 2 forwards dropping deep, or there will be no one in the box to put the ball in the net. That's why Berbatov has been such a flop, because he plays the same role as Rooney, and playing the pair of them doesnt work. It is a case of opposites attract, as far as forward partnerships go, and Rooney and Hernandez are a great combination. It gives Rooney the freedom to do as he wishes, and get involved in the play as much as possible as he knows Hernandez will always be up there. Saying playing with Hernandez is like having 10 men, is utter rubbish, he may not get involved in the build up play to often, but he is occupying defenders, by playing off the last man, and he is there in the danger area when the midfield and Rooney do create an opening
When we played Barca last year, I'd have rather have had Nani than Hernandez playing because IT DID appear as if we were playing with 10 man and against Barca it's a killer.
Tbh I think SAF only used Solskjaer like he did because he was so injury prone. And even before his knees started to go he never seemed to have the fitness needed to play a full 90 minutes effectively in the PL. I reckon if Hernandez can stay fully fit he'll play a lot more games than Ole did. Imo it's not so much that we're playing with 10 men, its that Hernandez can get very isolated if the midfield is congested and Rooney is dropping deep all the time. I think Hernandez would have played a lot more games this season had Cleverley and Anderson been fully fit for more of the season. With them being out for so long we've had a very deep midfield of Carrick and Jones/Giggs/Scholes which suits Welbeck more than Hernandez imo.
Welbeck is twice the Footballer Hernandez is and will become a United legend, Chicarito is a better finisher but his overall game isnt even close to DW`s. Had we signed DW from Flamengo there would be a ****ing ****fest about how great the lad will be.
I don't get this "overall game" is better crap. How can Welbeck be twice the footballer, yet possess half the movement and finishing ability, Hernandez is better in the air as well imo. Welbeck isn't a creative player either. His link up play is good, not great and certainly not miles ahead of Hernandez. He can dribble a bit and sometimes pass it back to Rooney, that's about it.
Twice the footballer was a silly comment, I think he meant Welbeck is more dynamic as a footballer as he can play wide, SS and as a centre forward, where as Hernandez is an out and out striker, he reminds me of Lineker with pace.
Hernandez is an out and out poacher, an excellent one at that and if we were to have one chance in a game most would likely hope that Javier was on the end of it.But at times couldnt trap a bag of sand, his passing is suspect and he isnt very good at holding the ball up.He has been found out somewhat this season as can be seen by his amount of offsides.More offsides than minutes on the pitch? Its a close call. You dont get this "overall game" crap?Whats so hard to understand, one is a better Footballer than the other, simple really. How do you reckon that DW`s movement is poor?He works his nuts off and is constantly running off the ball, something which has won him plenty of praise from pundits and the written press. If we had a midfielder who could open up defences we would benefit a lot more from all of out strikers movement(bar Berbas, of course )Also, Welbeck is actually quite good in the air too. DW isnt meant to be creative, he is a striker but he can pass a ball accurately. Are you going to beat Hernandez with the same stick?
