In fact the Judge said ignore football matters. The prosecution said keep their eyes on the ball.

As far as I understand (please correct if wrong) the "gift" is exactly the same amount of money as the 5% of Crouch's transfer fee which he would have got if not changing contracts (reducing the 10% to 5% going forward).
Yea HMRC are twats, but for it to have gone to court is slightly more serious.
Anybody who runs their own business will tell you about their run ins with the Revenue. We all find ourselves as unpaid tax collectors and despite the fact that we generate huge sums for the tax man we are treated as a matter of course like criminals. In the eyes of the Revenue we are always guilty and it is our job to prove our innocence.

I've been following the case but not in huge detail - what's the likelihood of a verdict tomorrow?
