Ashton Vale I reckon for Bristol rugby,it would be madness to pay the gas to play, when he owns Ashton Vale.

yes we do pay rent to dunford (mem stad comp) and in return that money gets re-invested back into the club. just like city. our internal debt is owed to the directors just like your internal debt as lansdown is owed at least £30million apparently...

Dunford does not re-invest your rent back into the football club,he will sometimes give you a loan and profit from the interest he charges you for it and your external debt has to be financed as well.

Your directors charge you interest on your internal debt albeit at a lower rate I presume but they still profit from you..

good thing is regarding lansdown taking over bristol is it has no impact on rovers or new stadium. if new stadium dont happen, at least our pitch be better once bristol moves :)

if the rent we pay to dunford covers a bill or a loan payment then it is being re-invested back into the club to pay the clubs bill or loan. its not going and staying in dunfords pocket. its being put back into the club in some format hense re-invested <ok>

'Those City fans who doubt the efficacy of such a move, need only look to Reading and Swansea for reassurance. Aided by state-of-the-art 'desso' pitches, the Madejski and Liberty Stadiums have hosted top-flight rugby union without any appreciable damage to the playing surface. The fact that the Ospreys also play at the Liberty has not prevented Swansea City from playing a brand of football that has won them many admirers, both in the npower Championship and Premier League.

City have plans to install just such a pitch at Ashton Vale, providing the project is given the go-ahead.

Of course, pitches containing artificial fibres are not cheap, but there is nothing to say City, backed by their owner, will not invest in a 'desso' system should they remain at Ashton Gate.'

Playing surface should not be a problem according to this...

point is wiz 3 posts later that the money paid as rent will in some capacity (maybe not all) but will be invested back into the club. my point made <ok>

just to move on from this as im bored already.... bristol have paid half of the bill to get covers put on the mem pitch. thanks lansdown for splitting the bill which rovers use to pay all of it. nice chap lansdown is. always thought so <whistle> http://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/page/LatestNews/0,,10328~2603198,00.html

Hmm, I feel I would be more worried by this development if I were 'gas' than City.

He's after your Stadium and he wants to give you a bit of payback for back stabbing us over Ashton Vale.

So you are now admitting that Steve Lansdown the Bristol City owner is financing through 1 of his businesses money to pay for your ground covers,so much for your directors re-investments..:emoticon-0102-bigsm

currently lansdown will be paying rovers rent :) and as he has lots of money, maybe rovers should double the rent for bristol as we know lansdown is good for the money ;) if he decides to buy the mem then the money will finance our new stadium at uwe :) thanks lansdown :)

You won't get any money for the minimal sale that all goes to Geoff Dunford (The Memorial Stadium Company) but don't worry, you don't need serious amounts of money because you will be paying for a lease only at UWE,you won't own it,just changing landlords.

Wiz who is behind the new rovers stadium, is it Higgs or a consourtium?.
SL could buy the men and develop it,then Bristol move to the vale.

wiz, rovers has bought the lease for 999 years. no rent will be paid. its our stadium. we would of been collecting rent from bristol if they wish to join us at uwe. if they dont then makes no difference. the sell of the mem clears all debts rovers have. we will be debt free paying no rent. if lansdown buys the mem then it will be his money that makes rovers debt free :) however he wont be buying the mem. contracts have already been signed between rovers and uwe and sainsburys - pending planning permission. too late for lansdown but rovers should double the rent on bristol in meantime for extra revenue as bristol have a bit of money now :)

**** me here we go again mod wars!
Maybe lansdown is thinking long term, both teams at the moment are ****, but he wants a Bristol dominance. Buy Bristol rip the mem away from gas like they did to Bristol watch them struggle further then.
    Welcome one team in Bristol!
Of course I could be talking bollocks and believe both City and Bristol will play at Ashton Vale or more possibly a new ground next to the gate when he acquires dream land. Then have a stadium open at least once a week.
Only he knows but he didn't make his money without risk or plans!
