I think you've probably got it right there St. If some journo cared enough to ask me, I'd give an opinion. That's probably all he's done, then they dress it up to be as big a story as they can. As you say-who cares what he thinks anyway?
if capello would ring up a few england players he might just find out he should have kept his mouth shut tightly on terry. He's backed his main buddy whom he gave the job back too off of ferdinand for no reason... like it as not there's a mix of uys in the squad and i'dsay it'd be reasonable to say terry is pure poison in there... capello ought to be more worried about the whole squad morale not ass liccing jt cos lets face it all he's good for is staidng and heading the ball any more.
And here's the first one of the day. It's posted on the Liverpool board and nowhere else. It relates to a comment made by a scotsman about the England 'captain' and 'manager'. Not, the scotland manager and captain. It has nothing to do with the club side you support. So your point is what, exactly?
Tbh, regardless of my opinion of Terry, Capello or Fergie, I don't think it works when the manager of a team is cut out of the decision making process- to undermine the manager's authority is bad for any team. Moreover, no matter how low my opinion of the above trio- my opinion of the FA is even lower.
Does anyone think the FA didn't consult Don Fabio? Or did they call him in and say that they needed to act on the issue? And he disagreed, and said he's stand by his captain (not so far as threatening to resign and damage his reputation by standing by a possible 'racist'). FA make announcement and Fabio publicly disagrees. I wonder if its a Breach of Contract? Some papers are questioning it...
Am I the only one who doesn't want to know the ins and outs of every conversation every football player/manager has. What's to be gained by knowing e.g that Rio found out the captaincy was taken away from him by reading the paper - or Capello wasn't involved in the decision about taking the arm band away from Terry. I think footie fans have enough to throw at each other from watching the games without supplying the evil minded with further ammunition!
Well maybe KKK didn`t threaten to resign but he certainly damaged his rep in football, by sticking up for a player found guilty of using racial abuse.
You may not want the in's and out's of the conversations, but I tell thee what, JB, its a damn sight better to have the whole beast to look at when deciding what it is, than having a toenail and trying to work out what it is... Suppose I'm saying I'd prefer a heap of context to my stories than a snippit or a soundbite for the hard-of-thinking. Its the 'soundbite culture' that has Luis Suarez as Racist Scum, according to the S*n-reading knuckle-draggers who can't be bothered to read the report (I include the press who uncritically published the findings of the report without reading the body)...
Found guilty by an FA tribunal who's processes and conclusions both LFC and KK have publically declared that they do not agree with.
**** off knuckle-dragger and forehead-type somewhere else. This thread is talking about Fabio and Diahorrea Man, not Kenny. You want to talk about the FA and its political agenda, find the right thread.
"Its the 'soundbite culture' that has Luis Suarez as Racist Scum, according to the S*n-reading knuckle-draggers who can't be bothered to read the report (I include the press who uncritically published the findings of the report without reading the body)... " I couldn't agree more. I can't believe the FA didn't see what was coming by releasing the report - is this a precedent btw? What's the point of knowing how and why they came to their conclusion when there's nothing that can be done by anybody, other than rubbish the player and the club. And Capello should know better than to open his mouth as well when all that does is create bad feeling. As for fergie he knows exactly what he's doing every time he speaks. If it's a question being asked about something that shouldn't concern him, he has multiple ways how to side-step it but in adding his 'sound bite' chooses not to!
Yet they didn't appeal ?? The whole racism thing is boring now. It should be getting left alone by both parties ( United and Liverpool ) now.
If there was any faith in the FA reaching a sound conclusion, I'm sure there would have been an appeal. However, since you cannot appeal against the harshness of the punishment, only the overall innocent/guilty, and according to the definition of racism, its in the ear of the recipient (regardless of intent), and Suarez's admission of having used the word 'Negro' once, he was de facto guilty. The lack of clarity in the thinking in the process, finding all Suarez' evidence unreliable, and all of Evra's reliable, despite the huge changes in his story (****** to negro; 1 use, 5, 7, more than 10) and the need to be coached over three sessions with video access to come to a reliable story to support the precident-setting 8 game ban, just to send a message to Sepp - none of this provides any confidence in the FA to select a fair panel to for the panel to reach a just conclusion.
Perhaps, but you still see fit to contribute to its continuation with the highlighted part of your comment? The repercussions of the decision will go on for a long time regardless of whether we drop it or not. The FA has set a precedent it cannot possibly maintain without creating further miscarriages of justice. As to an appeal- if you read the report you will see what a travesty their conclusions are given the body of evidence. Perhaps the club felt that not having been given a fair hearing in the first place, they were just as unlikely to get one on appeal and only receive further punishment? In football terms, it's best to move on- but in terms of justice and fairness, it's going to rumble on. When something is wrong, time doesn't make it right.
By going into a debate on the matter , no mater how mature the debate may be, will only lead the thread open to wums who take the opportunity to post the usual drivel ( KKK etc etc ). Needless to say, my opinion on the matter is slightly different than alot of Liverpool fans but I'd prefer not to contribute to much on a thread around racism ( I think it will come up enough over the next weel anyway ). However like you say, time doesn't make things right, but neither does Kenny (or anyone) bringing the issue up again.
Right. I agree with both saint and you. This is the last time I'm going to agree with you. It's making me unwell. The main reason for the OP was wind-up orientated. However, he shouldn't have said anything when asked the question. What has happened to Daveunited?
