It was posted in GC for that reason.

Medro feels it'll add more weight to his desperate argument if some ignoramuses can agree with him.

If Rangers went bust, Celtic would survive. They would have to downsize though ...

However, I think it MAY open up other avenues.

Other leagues don't want "the old firm" because of the associated trouble. But let one die off , then the other team becomes much more attractive.

Celtic move to Championship (or an EPL2 ) and leaves their reserve team in the SPL. SPL becomes instantly more competitive and Celtic gain their chance in English football.

Rangers won't die all together ... though they may need to start again as NewCo with a new history. Time to remove those 5 stars girls!

People who think Celtic will suddenly have a better chance of moving down to England after Rangers have gone are dreaming

I heard on the radio the other night that David Moyes had discussed the possibility of Everton putting a reserve team into the English lower leagues and he was told that the only way it could happen would be if they joined something like the 7th tier of English football. They couldn't even get into the conference. What makes Celtic so special?

    Sky ...

IF(BIG IF) it starts to become an attractive option to Sky, english football would have to look into their requests...

I think it was the 9th tier.

Don't think Celtic would get a move to England but if it did it would be because SKY made it happen.

I think at best we would have to start in the 2nd division which, let's face it, according to the huns the SPL would be like anyway if Rangers went tits up. A few years without European football might be a price worth paying for getting to the EPL.

Why would it be more attractive though? They already have a good product down south and making millions from it, if it ain't broke don't fix it and all that

Bit of a difference between a reserve Everton side with about a dozen supporters and Celtic who would fill every allocation they are given. Clubs in the lower English divisions would cream their trunks at the prospect of Celtic starting in League 2.

Celtic have a wide audience in places like America, Canada and Australia.

SKY may make money out of the current set up but they're not averse to making even more <ok>

I'm not saying it would necessarily mean they would but it COULD become an option.

They have a good product but it could do with being reviewed from time to time to make sure it was the best.

So, adding another team – a new team – with a different/large fan base could enhance the current system.

The Bolton chairman wanted to review league structure in order to generate more cash – they have huge debts!

Would adding a strong/competitive Celtic (or even Celtic and Rangers) not generate new revenue streams?

The way I see it is that if Sky were gonna go out their way to make it happen then they'd have done it already. People could say that it hasn't happened because of the trouble that the old firm moving down could cause but Sky don't care about that, if Sky saw it as an opportunity to make more money then they'd have done it. They'll also know that Rangers and Celtic are more powerful as a pair, I know Celtic fans think they'll be fine without Rangers but from a commercial point of view Sky would probably want both, if they even want them at all. Thats why I think if it was ever going to happen then it would've happened already

Anyone who thinks that Celtic are reliant upon Rangers is deluded.

The other possibility is to wait until an English league team (say Portsmouth) go tits up and apply to take their place.

You have already mentioned that the TV deal in Scotland would collapse if Gers went bust. That would mean that Sky would not make any money from Scottish football. Putting Celtic in the English league would offset that loss.
