Id love Samba. So consistent and hes almost unplayable at set pieces, remember when Mark Hughes would throw him up front? Lol, but if we cant get him, id take Roger Johnson personally. Seems like the kind of player we could attract.

I'd recommend Ashley Williams of Swansea though ;)

, I actually dont need to type much because you seem to have gone GCSE 10 point answer style here.

    I Disagree with you
Our defensive line is a very strong and a well worked group, However for the last 10 games or so we have been lacking a 100% constant goal time threat in the partnership off our midfield and the forwards including haha elbow *cough*. More time for teams to attack our box means more goals and sadly more mistakes. Besides all this long winded bull going on

    aye your wrong
    collo is class, World class
    Simpson, Young, hard working, talented
Williamson, Cant fault him, nobody is perfect
    jose, World Class

when i said to much i clearly am not the sacastic type.

Harper, elbow drop. need i say more

The centre backs are ridiculously important imo. You can sometimes get away with average midfielders or average wingers, but a top quality centre back at the heart of the defence really can make so much difference.

Colo is already really top class. Williamson is good, but I think we could do better. I'd love to see a CB who is on par (or near enough) to colo and, almost as importantly, forms an even better relationship with him.

I See your point, I still think williamson has done very well and colo was not great when we got him.

Oh yeah, he's good. We already have a team of good players though, so when you start to look at how the team can be improved even more, it eventually becomes a case of replacing good/great players with those who are even better. Sometimes harsh, but that's how it goes.

So, in that regard, I'd be quite happy if we ended up investing in a proven TOP quality CB who would work well with Colo.

This, we have a squad full of good players, but the only players that I consider to be great in our team are:

    Tiote
    Barton
    Enrique
    Ben Arfa

Ben arfa has not be proven to be great in my thoughts.

But as for replacing good player with great players. That is not how it works im afraid. It is a team. if you have a very good team with 6 good players and 5 great players, if you take the 6 good players out and put 6 apparently rated, slightly improved players. Does in no way indicate your ganna have a better team .

I know what you're saying, and by no means should we replace all of our good players for 'better' players, but if we were going to improve into a top 5/6 side, we may have to replace a few... also missed Colo off my list.

In my opinion, these are the players worthy enough if we were pushing to be a top 4/5 team:

    Harper
    Tiote
    Colo
    Enrique
    Barton
Ireland (with his old man city form only)
    Ben Arfa

Players who would be good enough to be in the overall squad as subs or back-up:

Simpson (might improve to be a highest class defender eventually)
    Willo
    Nolan
    Jonas
Best (have to see how many he bags over the rest of the season before being sure on him)

Yeah I missed Colo off of my list, Harper is a maybe but with age not on his side I could see him retiring at the end of his contract (end of next season) But i completely agree with you with the squad players, many of them would get into most premier league, just not the top ones

I do think people underestimate Harper. He actually commands the defence, and if it wasn't for some top saves this season, we would have lost a lot more matches. Without some class saves we would have been skinned by Everton by about 4 goals.

I know you would expect that from every keeper, but he really is a goalkeeping rock and, imo as good as some of the goalies in the top 4/5 teams:

    Szczesny
    Flappyhandski
    Gomes
Not far off Van Der Sar (at 40 years of age)

He would be good enough. As you say though, not long left now until he hangs up his boots.

As ive said in a previous thread 41 goals conceded in the league so far this season. As well as Simpson and Willo have done, this is where i see we need to improve.....
