Mr Webb proved again today that he is, beyond doubt, the most useless referee in the game. The fact that both sets of fans see him as "biased " says everything. However, only one team got 2 penalties, and as always it wasn't Chelsea.
However, Chelsea were dire again today. Mata,Luiz, Brana and Torres were the only ones who tried all day. Maybe Essien , but with little effect.
So, here's my analysis.
Cech quite good saves, but kicks absolutely terrible, almost always to opposition player.
Brana Usual excellent game. Poor yellow card meant playing on egg shells, but still did well.
Cahill. The invisible man. Needs more time.
Luiz Ran, passed defended and tried all day. Close to our best. What a pass to Torres ?? late on.
Boswinga. Out of position, tried but past it.
Mata, 5 star man. More please
Essien, Maybe not match fit yet, though suspect this is all he's got now after terrible injuries. Better on 1 leg than others on 2.
Malouda. Totally abject, diabolical player. Clueless and greedy.
Meireles Has good skills but not making impact any more.
Sturridge back to lazy, greedy sulky self. Not a happy bunny with wage structure, and shows it.
Torres. Count me as one who now thinks he's not going to come good. If he can't fit into our team play, then don't change the team, get someone who can.
United ran us ragged. They pass quickly, play directly and RUN at goal.
Chelsea spend half an hour passing backwards, sideways, stopping, turning back, passing to Cech , who kicks over the midfield to opposition. Hopeless, dreary uncommitted football.
Never seen such a contrast in style.
AVB Has to take the blame. Usual uninspired selection, surely Bertrand would be as good as out of position Boswinga.
Biggest mistake ? AGAIN tried to defend a 1 goal lead, and took off one of the only players likely to score. Same mistake he's made at least 3 times previously.
I've lost it with him, and think he's out of his depth, and unable to take the team forward. Will he improve? Anyones guess, but he will take us out of CL. We'll be lucky to finish 5th.
Bite the bullet, remove him to an assistant role and bring in Hiddink for rest of season.

Agree with most of this, but I have to take exception to the Cahill comment. "Cahill. The invisible man. Needs more time." I thought he had an excellent debut, considering what he was up against. Had a cracking effort right at the end and the goals that we conceded,. well couldn't really fault him for any of them.

I thought the whole team with the exception of Bosingwa & Malouda played well. The first half was a non-event really but the second was the best half so far this season. Mata was superb and Torres was sharp (but needs a goal) Luiz & Cahill were fantastic and only made one mistake but that was Brana's fault for not closing down Giggs. Considering everybody saying United are the team to beat we gave a very good account of ourselves indeed.

Work in progress, definitely we only need a right back, wide left player and another forward. job done <ok>

Oh Malouda, how does he get into every manager we have's team <doh>

Every single time he recieved the ball he would do nothing, absolutely sweet FA. Gave it away near enough every time.

Get rid, please AVB.

If your going to play Torres you need to play to his strengths and give him a midfielder that can play balls into him the way he likes and that made him the goalscorer he once was(ala Gerrard),otherwise you might as well sell him on to Athletico because he'll never flourish under your present system.

Maybe not right this minute but the team is in transition and next year we should have a better idea of how he will play.

That was tried today, with meireles and essien sitting. We just need a good winger who can cross/pass to balance it all out a bit now. Doesn't help when Torres ****s everything up that's been given to him on a playe <grr>

I know we've give him loads of grief since he ****ed off to the Bridge, but since hes been there your manager/managers need only look at his many goals for us on youtube to see how to play to his strengths and get the best out of him.

Its not rocket science Drogs, and if you dont play to his strengths(as Chelsea have'nt really done since minute one)you end up with nothing more than an extra midfielder.

I agree mate, and it's almost worth doing but then I think of the countless wasted chances and sitters he's ****ed up and think we'd be better off selling him. I don't think he'll ever be the played he was a couple of years ago!

Yep,but Chelsea should give different styles of play a go and thats purely because some of your players are reaching the end of their illustrious Chelsea careers/or getting on a bit and they are gonna be hard to replace bigtime.

Im not suggesting a punt to Mickey Droy type of tactics but just a change to suit what you've got.

Tbf it's what we tried today, we should be doing it more consistantly though. Just imagine if we had Modric :(

Well if 'Arry gets the England job and the Ruskie makes Levy an offer he cant refuse for Modric who knows.

But i think 'Arry shot himself and Rosie in the foot/paw when he admitted lying.

So no England job for him methinks.

Triffic.

I agree with the OP, but Cahill was good IMO as was Essien.

Malouda and Bosingwa were poor.

There was no real standout performer IMO

Well put. Except for one tiny thing that you appear to have forgotten.

"Modric will not be sold, at any price." (Daniel Levy, last Summer).

Did you notice that little word "any" in that sentence?

Levy told Modric to stick with Spurs because we are going places, whereas Chelsea's star is waning, and he was absolutely right.

I guarantee, that at the end of this season, Moddy will go up to Levy, shake his hand, and say, "Thanks, top man! You stopped me making the biggest mistake of my career. I love Spurs!"

Guaranteed <ok>

Had a second look at the game. Not sure Cahill was outstanding, but I concede he was more involved than my first impression. One great save, one dodgy tackle, mostly coped well. Considering it's his first game, not bad.
However, general team play was pretty ordinary, static, sluggish. We scrambled well defensively, and had a couple of classy individual moments, but were very poor in attack. Man U ran us ragged for long periods, and AVB wasn't able to change things. Which is my point. As a team we struggle against lowly teams, and seem slower and more indecisive than when we beat Citeh. Looks like we're going backwards, or at best treading water.
Rather than individual criticism, I am asking Do you think AVB is improving the Team ?? If not, why not ? If yes, then how ??

Modric will go in the summer for sure but not to us as we don't require him after seeing what a mediocre season he has had so far but he will fall to United's call and Levy's resolve will again be melted away by money as last time and we all know the wide-boy love a bit of cash.

Actually yes, this. Levy will bend over to United in typical Spud fashion.
