Mmm.. yeah it depends if Guthrie stays/fights for his place, Vuckic might go out on loan and maybe Ireland(on a perm) might be our solution(I'll personally be happy with that) - He can play out wide if needed.

Tiote, Nolan, Barton, Gosling, Guthrie and Ireland/???.. would be our midfield choices, quite good I guess.

  2. Well, even though it would be seperating the bum boys, we could try putting Jonas on the right. He's better on his right foot and is naturally a right winger. We could then put Ben Arfa or Ireland LW, which means we'd have pace on both wings.

I would love to see us see an African defender in the Tiote mould, strong and tenacious and dominant in the air.

    Good choice there.
Suppose I'm not taking like HBA/Ireland/Gosling into consideration really. Ireland LW and Benny behind new striker? Guti/Barton/New winger on right.
    Could be good.

A striker/s is a MUST(quality ones), a winger wouldn't go a miss(Versatile sort of Kranjcar/Barnetta style), a versatile defender would be nice(Perch maybe.. I know I know, he might come good you never know) and then a CM wouldn't be bad depending if Guthrie goes(Smith is certainly off.. probably to Leeds) or we could promote Vuckic to the bench or someone like Donaldson/Inman/Richardson although there all very inexperienced at this level.

I might just be tired here but I can only think of
Barton - better in CM as a box-to-box
Guthrie - Just drifts into CM so is useless on the right..
Ireland - can he play on the right? and untested so far
I suppose Ben Arfa can play there if needed..

edit: Gosling! but again, I haven't seen him play so I can't say that position is safe..

  11. To be honest, before the season i was terrified of facing the mackems with Onuoaha and Mensah, but i've not been that impressed tbh.

Coloccini and Enrique are both better than any of the mackems defenders.

I think we could improve in the CB are but it is low on priority. If Enrique stays then I'd be happy with Ferguson as cover, but i'd like cover right back as I don't feel we have quality in that position other than Simpson. I'd also like to see cover for Tiote as we all know that Smith isn't good enough. I'd also love to see a top quality winger come in along with a top quality striker.

But in order of priority it would be:

    New striker
    New winger
    Cover centre midfield
    Cover right back

Both of them aren't even their own players, along with muntari. Even IF they do sign them up for next season, they'll be ****ed for the African Cup of Nations in January.

Mensah is a quality CB. Definately better than Williamson and Taylor.

personally i'd go for a striker,RW,RB LB cover,DM cover and CB and most of all give the young uns a chance kadar, fergie,Vuckic,Tavernier etc.
buy ireland only if he finds his form/fitness sell lover, guthrie, smith, raylor, perch and release sol
After watching the porto match the other night i'd have a look at Rolando for the CB position he was outstanding but no idea how much he'd set us back (another one i'd look at would be honda showed some nice touches but would need a main striker to play up front with him)
