really? i thought he looked really confident and tried to make things happen in the first half, he's excellent technically and will only continue to improve, i disagree with you there sparky
I've no problem with you seeing it another way swampy. As good as Ralls promises to be, and he's been compared to Rambo at that age, he was not the best option as that game developed, and was happy to see him subbed. There's a fair argument that the other Joe should have started the game instead of him. Although not much older, Mason's game just behind Miller would have posed them more problems first half and could have disrupted their tactics. Ralls being technically adept is half the story, experience and strength in midfield was at a premium yesterday. I'm not knocking Rallsy at all - anyway, it's all about opinions on here.
I was at Saints on Tuesday where Miller also looked totally ineffective, and basically shattered (he failed to hit the target with three quite decent chances). He needs a break. Ploughing that lone furrow chasing lost causes is killing him - he looks like he's done his season's worth already.
1 - 0 up, McNuggs goes off, we lose 3 - 1. Was McNuggs injured? He seemed okay to me running up and down the line in front of me. Him going off seemed to upset the balance at the back. Not Darcy's fault but he was off the pace when he came on and Gerrard was so slow going for the up and under ball before their second, letting the player behind him get ahead.
They looked ordinary until they brought the subs on!! It's just proves that we lack impact off the bench...we need a few signings just so we can change the shape of things!! Joe Mason played superb IMO n Malky proved that he isn't afraid to make changes!! I just felt Whittinghams passing was very sloppy along with Cowie n Gunner, I thought Conway looked dangerous down the left but we need a wide person for the right! It was obvious that we kept going down the left! We need balance in team... It's a shame Harris didn't come on!! I would change the formation a bit I like to see Rudy at top with Miller and mason just behind with 2 holding midfielder n then Whittingham given a free role to float around Marshall McNaughton Hudson Turner Taylor Gunner Cowie Whittingham Miller Mason Gustede Conway played well but without 2 natural wingers I just felt the balance ain't right in the team!
I agree with you regarding Ralls sparkey. He just seems out of his depth, hes good going forward but doesn't seem to know who he's marking when defending. What's happened to Kiss? Wasn't even on the bench Saturday? I quite like him in midfield he's not afraid to get stuck in and make a tackle. Anyway it's only the second loss we've seen at home so we can't moan too much, just hope this isn't the start of a bad run for us!!

3rd loss Nat. Brighton, Boro and Blackpool. Only 1 more B to come at CCS. Okay I know its Middlesboro, but that's called poetic licence.
I was suprised to see Kev go off, he was our best defender in the 10 mins prior to being subbed. He must surely have been injured. I agree with pretty much all of whats been said about Ralls! He's class and was possibly our only midfielder who looked really comfortable on the ball first half BUT he really struggled to get a foot in and we desperately needed that first half. I also agree that Miller looks spent. Joe could start for him without changing formation and leave him on the bench for a game or 2. Freshen him up for the run in and cup final. It's a real pity we didn't sign a fast winger that Malky had faith in to start against Blackpool. The numbers they commit forward was crying out for real pace on the counter attack, I obviously understand why Harris wasn't thrown straight in! On the plus side we're 2 pts off second, have responded well to each of our set backs so far this season and the number of quality teams below us means it going to be really tough for anyone to go on long unbeaten runs. There will be plenty more twists and turns and we're right in the mix.
Eggo says McNuggs had a tight muscle so taken off as a precaution. However, I think that had an effect on the game because Darcy took a while to settle, we missed Kev charging down the right (okay we know his final baal is not great but he is always a threat to be watched) and his absence enabled their left back and midfield to push on more. Up until then we were fairly solid at the back.
