Don't misunderstand. I think Jayram is probably right, if the players you wanted were brought in earlier, it could of made the beginning of the season easier for you leading to a better outcome right now.

However that's speculation, so Piskie has some point in saying that you can't know if it would of made any difference.

Pity we can't sell NOW - my new price £20m without the bag of chips.

If he's had a great game, shame about the last 6.

Lets get things in perspective, Walcott is a very good player, the real problem is that he doesn't fit our style of play/formation effectively. On his day he can be very destructive but to do this we need to play to his advantages. If we decided to play counter-attack, like we did against Barca, he looks terrific. With a player like Walcott we have a plan B. However, despite his assists today, he didn't look very impressive at all. OXO on the other hand is perfect for our system and seems to gel really well with RVP, the same for Gervinho. It will be interesting to see what happens when Gervinho comes back. Wenger will have to make some serious decisions on this front and will be forced to pick the best/right player for the remaining season, as he will be desperately chasing a top 4 position.....

been reading the entries - why on earth did RVP stay on? Does Wenger WANT him to get kicked. The manager's a nutter.

Another one of Wenger's strange substitute decisions. We are 5-1 up, comfortably in control and have Milan coming up and he keep RVP on but just subs OXO?!?! I swear his substitutions are pre-planned yearr in advance and hardly ever changes....

He does realise that without RVP we would struggle to score!? Strange

I was concerned, but maybe he feels that RVP isn't likely to be injured via tiredness as much as Ox, Kos and Song who are running flat out. Yes you worry about a tackle, but if he told him to cool it a bit? RVP gets a week rest now, so we should be OK.

Considering RVP is by far our most important player that we rely heavily on goals for, i don't see the logic of playing him the entire game when we were comfortably 5-1 up at home at the 60th minute mark? Lets not forget his sketchy injury record so pulling him off makes even more sense. RVP should have been the first player taken off in my opinion.

That is poor poor logic there.

Using both ends of an extreme to suit your argument? What about developing a Bendtner to buying in a Hernandez or Bale?

Just because some people have made bad buys doesn't mean there is no room to buy at all in the market.

Welcome to our world of arguing with people who a) refuse to face facts, b) admit they are wrong and c) use extremes as validation of their point.

Given that the example originally used was Liverpool buying Carroll and Downing (I would add Henderson to that list) for a combined total of £71m, I would argue that the only extreme in this argument is arguing against the logic of developing players like RVP, Wilshere, Frimpong, Coquelin as opposed to spending ludicrous amounts on mediocre players.

he did and i would sell for anything. and its reported he about to sign a new 4 yr contract.

ppl on here at the mo only seem to concentrate on the bad days of players, walcott yes has been crap lately but yesterday played very well and he can change a game when brought on like the barca game last season they are scared of him for a reason so i would keep him
