    Serious questions

    is he

better off here getting used to the area and team mates?

    Better at home resting?
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew says nightlife distractions are why winger Hatem Ben Arfa is staying in France to recover from a broken leg. "Other than being in the city and getting used to the restaurants and God knows what else, there's no other benefit for us at the moment," Pardew said about the £6m signing from Marseille who suffered a double fracture in October.

I'd rather he stayed here and got to know his teammates, the city and his new club. But if he's happier in France, Pardew is doing the right thing by sending him there. I know that if I had a broken leg I'd rather be at home with friends in family. He'd only been here a few weeks when it happened, so it hardly would've felt like home to him.

There's arguments for both I suppose. What I would think Pardew's thinking is is that he'll have the whole summer and pre-season to get to grips with all that, much like anyone we may sign in the summer.

Pardew is right to send him home to France.

Good to be with family and he is getting top medical care.

He did the right thing. He should definitely get used to the area and his team mates when he's fit and healthy, but a severe injury like this can effect your mental state just as much as anything else. Being exposed to new people in a new area without his family is always going to be challenging, and that's a challenge he just doesn't need right now.

This is better for him, (although it would be nice for him to get used to the area and team mates)

Agree but it must be hard on the lad being injured and having no family around him.

I think some of his family have found it hard in Tunsia with all the trouble.

It is true that he's staying in France but they've taken it out of context by saying Pardew doesnt want him out in town, experiencing the nightlife, he just wants to be with his family after what happened in Tunisia and given that he doesnt even speak English, and cant train yet.

Sounds about right, though I thought all the French spoke English well.

Yeh this, If he's not going to be fit then Pardew may as well let him rest and enjoy himself until he can play again
