Like I said, shooting on sight doesn't have to be from outside the area. A player can get the ball from eight yards out, shoot on sight and snatch the shot as a result making an easy save or a miss, particularly if confidence is low. And I've seen Liverpool do that plenty of times this season.

Nah, I think we're just **** infront of goal being honest. We rarely take shots from outside the box. I don't think its anything to do with taking shots on sight, its just a lack of composure infront of goal, and some of our players being of the belief that getting the ball on target makes everything fine and means their job is done.

You're determined to prove this 'shoot on sight' theory, aren't you? But really, is it shooting on sight when the ball is crossed in the box and you poke it wide with a foot, a head, or the keeper blocks it? Surely 99.99% of footballers would shoot in that instance? These are good chances we're creating, and poor finishing (such as 'snatching' the shot) doesn't mean we're shooting on sight. It simply means poor finishing. As an example, consider Downing's miss against City. He was clean through, lost his composure and blasted it at Hart rather than tucking it round him. Was that merely 'shooting on sight'? No, it was poor finishing.

I think most people agree that shooting on sight means having a pop from anywhere in the hope of scoring. That probably applies to <10% of our shots. The rest are as blatant goal scoring opportunities as you're likely to see.

Nope, school in Altrincham. But don't worry if you don't know the word, they are probably higher quality than schools in Yeovil...

I dunno - I've seen plenty of footballers either take a touch or get their head up and see a teammate in a better position. It may mean the chance goes begging, or you have to recycle the ball and start again, but it also often means the different between a missed chance and a goal.

Either way, you're right - shoot on sight wasn't the right word to use. Perhaps I should say being too willing to shoot when a half chance is created. The opposite of what Arsenal do when they try and pass it into the net, but just as damaging to the overall goalscoring potential of the team imo.

Ok, I'll agree that this is sometimes the case. In fact, you've pretty much summed up Charlie Adam there.
Other times, however, we've been guilty of the latter. Particularly with Downing cutting in and playing little passes on the edge of the area. He needs to be more like Valencia and just whip it in 9 times out of 10. Maybe he'd get an assist then...

We do need to sort our supply out, especially in regards to Carroll. When you have a 6 ft 3" striker who is excellent in the air, knock the ball into him, and stop messing around with it, whip it in to his head a few times. Drives me mad.

City's stadium about 70% full. Pathetic.

Just hows how many plastics there are. Bit of weather and they don't turn up - offically sold out.

    Small club got lucky.

City look very strong, once the Toure brothers come back and Kompany returns, they will take some stopping. Looks like the Chelsea game tomorrow will be quite important.........

Could be worse. Some Chelsea fans are already hoping our game tomorrow will be called off due to snow, to save them from having to play us without Terry, Cole and Fat Frank.

The snow isn't even that bad around here - I'm only a few miles south of Wastelands and there's barely 1/4 inch on the ground.

No, that's the distance from Yeovil to Anfield.

You forget that mods have the ability to see your IP address... <whistle>
