    At the Dallas GP in 1984, the warm up was scheduled very early due to the heat Jaques Laffite turned up in his PJs.
    Chinese GP 09 facts

    Sebastian Vettel joins the ranks of the multiple winners with his second career victory. Like the first, it was scored from pole position in a wet race that started behind the safety car. He also passed the 50 career points tally, reaching 51 and achieved his second pole position.

    Mark Webber scored his best result to date with second.

    Heikki Kovalainen completed his first racing lap of 2009 after failing to get beyond lap one in the first two races.

    Bahrain GP 09 facts

    After 203 starts and over 10,000 laps, Jarno Trulli finally set his first fastest lap in a Grand Prix

    Mercedes won their 70th Grand Prix as an engine constructor. They are the fifth most successful engine builder in F1 history, behind Ferrari (210), Ford/Cosworth (176), Renault (116) and Honda (72). Those 70 wins are split between Mercedes’ works team of the 1950s (nine), Brawn (three) and McLaren (58).

    Despite the changes in the technical regulations and the fact there have been two wet races, reliability has been better so far in 2009 than in the whole of 2008. Last year 78% of starts ended in a finish, so far this year it’s 86%. Only Kazuki Nakajima failed to finish in Bahrain, retiring after his car developed high oil pressure.

    Spanish GP 09 facts
    Jenson Button hit the five wins landmark, giving him as many as world champions Keke Rosberg and Giuseppe Farina, plus Clay Regazzoni, John Watson and Michele Alboreto.

    He finished on the podium for the fifth race in a row and scored his sixth career pole position. Button has now led exactly 250 laps in his career.

    Rubens Barrichello claimed the fastest lap, his 17th. He has more than any other active driver bar Kimi Raikkonen, who has more than twice as many (35).

    Robert Kubica failed to score for the sixth race in a row (including the final race of 2008) making this his longest point-less streak. He previously failed to score between the 2006 Chinese and 2007 Malaysian Grands Prix.

    Monaco GP 09 facts

    Jenson Button completes a hat-trick of wins with his triumph in the Monaco Grand Prix - the first time this has been done in three years.

    It was the second-fastest Monaco Grand Prix of all time and the first time a driver has won three consecutive races with the same engine.

    Fastest lap went to Felipe Massa, the first for Ferrari in 2009. It was Massa’s 12th, giving him as many as Alberto Ascari, Jack Brabham, René Arnoux and Juan Pablo Montoya.

    Lewis Hamilton started from his lowest ever grid position: 19th.

    The Championship has been clinched in the final race of the season 23 times in the 58 seasons it has been awarded.

    The earliest in a season when a Championship was clinched was in 2002, when Michael Schumacher secured the title with six races remaining.

    Schumacher holds the record for most consecutive Drivers’ Championships, winning five from 2000 to 2004.


    The fastest circuit of Formula One race is the Monza with the highest speed record of 375 kph.

    Formula One cars can accelerate 0 to 200 km/k and back to 0 in just seven seconds.

    When the racer applies full brake the car takes about 55 metres and 1.9 seconds to come back to a standstill.

    It is also known that the Formula One racers lose their weight due to dehydration as they drive the race in hot weather.

    British racer Damon Hill is one and only one Formula One racer who have won the F1 championship without leading even in a single lap.

    Juan Manuel Fangio is the oldest F1 racer who won the championship when he was 46 years old.

    Nigel Mansell is the only F1 racer who lost the championship award despite of leading in every lap.

    Emerson Fittipaldi of Brazilian is the youngest F1 driver.

    Most of the F1 car tyres are composed of nitrogen rather than normal air as nitrogen has more consistent pressure. The tyres of these cars like the engine have a very short life. These tyres live up to 90 to 120 km.

    About one kilometre of an electric cable is used to connect about 100 sensors and actuators in these racing cars. All these linked sensors and actuators are used to control and monitor the performance of the Formula One car.
