I'm sorry to see problems on this board, until Thai resigned today I did not know we had any so talking off the top of my head a little here.

First Dave, waiting to hear from him but I hope Dave is staying, he is one of the best mods on this forum and a nice man so I would hate to see him go but he must decide.

I know SN was banned and he complaied about it, Thai and Dave gave me their reasons, SN did not agree but accepted them in good grace and I thought it was over.

When we dont know the facts its normal for someone to jump in shouting unfair but IMO, shouting unfair without knowing the facts is unfair in itself.

Being a mod is not easy and you cant please all the people all the time but its all about give and take, being laid back and sometimes just doing what you think is right and sticking to it.

I take peronal abuse like you would not believe but TBH, my view is simple, if telling me I'm a fat old **** is all people can throw at me I think I have won and they have lost.

Please help the mods and trust them, its easy to knock but not that easy to do.

 

Right, bit of an update, first Dave is still with us and hopefully will remain with us.

SN is still on the forum under a new name and is only blocked from this board so lets move on please or I will talk about last Wednesday evening, now you can call me a fat old mackem bastard, just for fun mind.

Thai come on fella. SN23 caused me to take some time out.

He was banned from the Town board after being direspectful and not heeding warnings after some comments of a racist nature.

The amount of flack I got for it was incredible. He's clearly a poisonous character and so I would support a lifetime ban.

The job you do Thai is very important. Our boards generally don't need a lot of intervention but without it they would get out of control and be unusable for anyone who wants to talk football.

every one who runs the site deserves a big pat on the back. I really enjoy all the articals and cross board banter. Every thing from peoples oppinions, actual facts to RBF poems. Well done lads!! Long may this site continue!! Helps me through the day as I work with all girls that hate football and have no interest in sport

I'm sorry Thai's felt he needs to stop, in my view he and Dave have done a great job here.
It can't be an easy thing to do, particularly when you're having to mod people you've come to know well over the years, both here and old 606.
It's not a job I envy, and I'm grateful for the job they (and Syd) have done, and do, in providing this forum for us.

 

I didn't get to post this on the other thread before it was closed, but I thought you were definatley ok banning him. Some of the time he seemed like a normal poster, and others he went off the rails - and he was calling you bipolar...

Thanks Yorkie and to be honest I never thought I would read such words from yourself. In fact, your words mean more than anything than any other messages I have had in the last 10-15 minutes (No disrespect to those who have sent messages my way) but alas it is not enough for me to reconsider.

I have principles and values, as most people do but it appears mine are not right for this kind of venue.

 

Just take some time out and come back in a month or two if you feel more like it. I felt the same way.

 

Dave and Thai have operated as liberal a policy as can be tolerated. My thanks to both of them. Some people seem to think that being able to hide their identity behind a pseudonym and the fact that it's just an internet forum somehow makes intolerable behaviour OK. They deserve to be banned. Why should the rest of us be tarred with their brush?

It might be an idea if posters' profiles could feature any bans or warnings issued by the mods. At least that would serve as some kind of warning to others about the kind of poster you are dealing with.

 

Robbie, PM cyprussydsafc with that as a suggestion. He will pass it on to the site owner for consideration.

 

The problem is you are thinkng like a person who would think being banned is something to be a little ashamed of. To many of the people who do get banned, not all but a lot, it would be like asbos, a badge of honour.

I think we forget at times that not606 was built on doing all we can not to ban people and believe me the mods do all they can not to ban. The person banned always, honestly always says its unfair, the mods are picking on them, they are power mad and they have done nothing wrong.
In my 12 months plus doing this not one complaint has been justified and it can look at face value at times unfair, however, when you see the history it never is.

 

What they think about it is neither here nor there cyprussyd. But it would indicate to the rest of us what sort of poster we were wasting our time on. If someone comes onto a board and starts being objectionable, the fact that their profile carries a "health warning" in red about their previous, would put everyone in the picture.
