Well, they are saying KICK RACISM OUT OF FOOTBALL, around the world, so I guess this had to be done, seeing as he was representing the country, and we just can't have a blatant bigot there. Hopefully the world is forgiving and lets us move on for better.
Can't let him get away with it...an example needs to be made of Terry...if I were to be racist in my job I would be sacked, same rules should apply
Except that Ferdinand denies any conversation like that took place. At worse its word v word and unless theres conclusive proof Ferdinand it lying, Terry is guilty.
Exactly, Anton denies it, Terry said it happened. So it practically is one word against another. But no doubt players on the pitch are going to be asked if they heard anything, which apparently nobody did. You don't need proof that Ferdinands lying, you need proof that Terry is. Not exactly water tight, almost certain he'll be found not guilty.
It's not long ago we QPR fans screamed from the rooftops "innocent 'til proven guilty", and slated everyone on our way asking for point deduction and saying we were guilty as hell! Still right decision by the FA, only three bloody months too late from the useless muppets.
He should've stepped down until it was all over as strictly speaking if the FA followed innocent to be proven guilty. It's made more drama out of the situation but the FA had little choice.
If people think hes not guilty, ferdinand must be liar to them and it makes no sense of a man of good repute to do that. Terry on the other hand has a long list of being a scumbag and thats just the things we know about. However Id love it if that new angle no one has seen conclusively proves Terry is a liar, its just a shame it didnt happen 10 years ago.
Interesting that Chelsea have said anyone guilty of racism would be banned for life, if found guilty would that mean that Terry could only play in away games?
I think this poll is flawed as i would of voted... 'Should be put in stocks on Shepherds Bush Green and pelted with rotten tomatoes and various items of mouldy fruit'
Id rather a sign on the stocks asking for help in treating a jellyfish sting on his head. Dogs could join in too.
I think you're being far too nice Staines. I think he should be introduced to those nice fellows who helped that rugby player deal with his drink problem last year in the walkabout
Well it's true. I've no doubt he'll be found not guilty unless there's some large piece of evidence we don't know. If he's found not guilty as his defence is found to be proven then his innocence is proven. If he's found not guilty because of a lack of evidence then that's a grey area.
I am 100% in support of "innocent until proven guilty" in all cases, including Terry's. But the FA were, in my opinion, absolutely correct to relieve Terry of the England captaincy. If there was an error, then it was made when he was reinstated in the first place. Despite the hypocritical, ****fest of a society in which we live, organisations such as the FA must strive to recognise those that themselves observe the best possible standards. Terry clearly is not such an individual, irrespective of the outcome of his latest er,... endeavour.
I will freely admit that I don’t know if he is guilty or not, but the picture that I cannot clear from my head is this. We all still see pictures of Bobby Moore (RIP) holding aloft the World Cup. If by some miracle we actually win the European Championships, Terry receives the trophy and two weeks later is in jail, could we ever look at those pictures again? Not worth the risk, in my opinion.
Sorry Staines should of included that option....just wanted to ser what the general thoughts of us R's
