This is where you all hate me but I agree with Ray Wilkins. It does not matter if he is a racist or not if he does not play you will not win. Looking at Englands history even if he plays you will not win.

I just wish my nation could qualify so then we would not win from a better position than we have when we normally do not win.

Well why not? I am seriously considering doing my referees qualifications in the future. I thoroughly enjoy it.

And if he is proven to be innocent? I can empathise with him, knowing the damage that a spurious claim can do to a 'reputation' having been through that myself.

As to the risk of having had a racist as captain of England - I don't buy that. Especially as the FA are quite obviously prepared to select him anyway and run the risk of having had a racist in the team - what's the difference?

On the Terry matter i have to say i dont want him to put on an England shirt again! There are plenty of videos on youtube and you dont need to be a lip reader to see what he says. I do not want to be represented by him!! Being the captain of the national team is an honor and a privilege and he has not earned that!! This is the second time he has tarnished the reputation, there cannot be a third!!

H - Time to be a pushy 'orrible parent. Call the head of the department of the Uni's that are the best in the degree that Miss H wants to go to and find out what they "really" really looking for. Then tell the school you need a few more days - FFS it's February, how can you choose this early - give the school head some ****...I just used to let Mrs W_Y loose on them, always worked!

BB - This starts the whole racist debate again. Of course you are right in that he is innocent until proven different, but if you or I were in the same position, we would also expect to be suspended from our jobs until we had our opportunity to confirm our innocence in the courts. For me, the FA have screwed up again - they should have announced that JT was not available to her available as England captain as soon as he was formally charged.

I wouldn't expect that and, fortunately, when it did happen to me I wasn't suspended. Knowing the community in which I lived at the time, suspension would have been the worst possible thing. Being able to carry on as normal meant that I could draw upon the support of colleagues who knew the truth. If JT is found guilty, fair enough he has to pay the price - but it's not fair that he pay the price before that happens - that's a skewed form of justice that has no place. Admittedly, his public profile is far higher than I could ever hope - or want -mine to be, but that's irrelevant - he simply shouldn't be seen to be being pre-judged, which is what has happened here.

BB - We obviously live in quite different worlds. I would be suspended in a second - I work in an American corporate environment where diversity and ethical compliance are paramount. But, I still believe that someone with JT's profile to be seen a leader our national team our national game has to be without taint...where is the line? What if he was charged with rape or GBH?

I suspect we will never agree on this topic, so this is my last word on the topic...

I agree, February seems early, it's something to do with timetables, but i know all the schools are choosing around now..doesn't make it right, it's a pain! Mr H is quite good at shouting, i'll suggest it, thanks w_y.

You're right, with or without him, we won't win. <laugh> good luck next time Ak.

Good for you Dan! Go for it :)

I agree, it's a tricky one, would have been better if he hadn't been given it back in the first place!

    i'll come with you! :)

Continuing the John Terry discussion... I don't have a great understanding of the judicial system, but is it normal to adjourn proceedings until a convenient time for the defendant? No he shouldn't be captain, I wouldn't have him in the team and I think the sooner he is found guilty or innocent the better. Then there wouldn't be all this pussyfooting around wondering what the "right" thing to do is.

Cases like these will usually take a while to make it to court as the CPS will take all the time it can to gather the evidence. But its not usually based on the defendants diary.

Terry hasn't exactly got a clean-slate when it comes to past misdemeanours, and as you said H, the risk isn't worth taking.

Also he's depressingly slow and commits constant fouls (shirt-pulling, tripping people,...), we have better options, he won't be missed <ok>

(Unless we need someone to piss in pint-glasses in clubs or sleep with team-mates's wives)

    The accused "John Terry",
    The charge "Being John Terry"
    The verdict "Guilty"
The sentence "Never play for England again"

Just for being the arrogant sanctimonious useless lump of lard he is.........................
