Chelsea's win against Blackpool closed the gap on Man United to 9 points which was 12, Man U are top with 60pts. Chelsea have a game in hand and still have to play Manchester United at Old Trafford. Also Man U have to play Arsenal in the league, the Gunners are 2nd with 57 pts. This Sunday at 4pm Chelsea play Manchester City. A Chelsea win against Man City would put the Blues of West London on 54 points above the sky blues of Manchester. This season Man U are likely to lose or draw another game judging from their poor away form and they have far too many draws. The Red Devils have already lost back2back games against Chelsea & Liverpool. Chelsea hope that Arsenal will drop points again on Saturday when the Gunners face West Brom, which would be a repeat from last weekend which saw Arsenal fail to close the gap on Man United by drawing to Sunderland. I think Chelsea have a great chance to win league certainly we're not out of the race. But I understand it will be hard to win league as Chelsea have to win all our remaining games or go on a 9 game win streak, Chelsea have already won their last 2 games against Man U & Blackpool.
I'm hoping for another win over Chelsea on Sunday,it's becoming a nice habit ________________________________________ Man City played excellent the last time they played us at the Bridge. Lets just say I'm glad Bellamy isn't playing for Man City any more as he completely devastated our defence bombing down the touch line and scored x2 great individual goals when Man City won 4-2 v Chelsea. Hope Tevez has a poor game as he seems to score against us a lot. Lampard loves scoring against City though for Chelsea as he scored x2 goals last season 09-10 and scored at Eastland's the season before that 08/09.
City will win sod all while they have that incompetent Mancini as manager when they luckily beat us 1-0 at City they played three defensive midfielders Mancini was playing not to lose but got lucky with a speculative shot from Tevez that went luckily through Coles legs. City by and large do not play expansive football but have the players and skill to do so. Mancini is shackling their style.
Chelsea are too far behind in all honesty but we have to keep going on winning to give ourselves the best possible chance should the declining United or the not man enough Arsenal decide to through it away.
You stand a decent chance, but I can't see both Utd and Arsenal falling apart. One of them will put together enough of a run to get over the line, although I wouldn't bet against Chelsea overhauling the other one to finish second. A lot depends on Utd's games vs Chelsea and Arsenal...
Arsenal have proved time after time that they spurn any semblance of any chance offered them, United traditionally don't drop too many points on the run in but this isn't a traditional United side.
True, but I still can't see both of them collapsing enough for you to overhaul a six point deficit in 9 or 10 games. Particularly given that your results against Liverpool, Fulham and Everton show that you are also a long way from the clinical and dominant side you were last year. But feel free to quote me at the end of the season if I turn out to be wrong!
Hypothetically A loss away to Arsenal is a possibility at present which would put the gooners three points clear and pile the pressure on an ordinary United side by comparison. Personally I think your teams gone but time will tell but I'm more concerned with catching Arsenal. Wengers squad of non achievers might just discover what its about if thrown at them long enough and for once show some self belief.
A loss away to Arsenal is probably quite likely with them being out of the CL. But so is a loss for Arsenal away to Spuds and / or Bolton, and for you to drop points against us, City, Everton and / or Spurs. Especially given you haven't managed to go four games without a defeat in the league since October. In fact, looking at the games remaining, our run in seems the easiest of the three. It all depends on how we react to the two losses on the trot - if we get a win against Bolton and a result against Marseille, we'll be able to regroup over the international break and keep the pressure on. It's all getting quite exciting now...
To have any chance we would need to win at Old Toilet. That would benefit Arsenal enormously too.I think the title is heading to Arsenal but I am quitely confident we will not be trophyless this season.
There will be plenty of twists and turns in the next 10 games or so and neither arse or united look like taking the bull by the horns and points will be dropped. However i think we have left it too late. Had we had more positive results against liverpool and fulham we'd have a great chance but we haven't shown all year that we are capable of putting a real run together. If we win all our games i have no doubt we would be champions...but we wont. I just hope and pray that this is our year in the champs league as that is the only competition we have really performed in this season.
Yes it is hotting up but I'm only really worried about the City game at the bridge! Mancini's penchant for playing three defensive midfielders with Tevez up front on his own can be very tricky. The rest are pretty formula and don't see Spuds,West ham, newcastle a problem at home And Stoke, West Brom are shouldn't be problematical either If when we play you we are right in there then I'm confident we will do you again although Everton could be sticky if we need to win to take the title. Sounds good on paper but we will have to see how it all pans out
Ginge The mighty 'Citeh' lost to Kiev y'day & even conceded a goal from the machine 'Sheva' I think we have enough to see them off when the day comes
JWP City always raise their game as most do when playing the champions but I'm not convinced we do negative teams all that well?
