Listen sonny. You're really not very good at this are you? Leave it to the experts....................................... ...................................FAIL
Can't be arsed. It being this time on a Friday, my whole being is totally focused on Carling and ganja MITO may help out though.
Despicable stuff if it actually happened http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/feb/03/manchester-united-fan-racist-abuse-stoke Serious question here, why is there, seemingly, a rise of alleged racist abuse at grounds this season? Is it because people have randomly turned racist or is it because people are now more prepared to listening for it and are actively looking out for racist abuse when going to matches?
It's all Evra's fault No seriously - It's always been in the game I just think this season due to the on field antics it's more in the spotlight than usual.
Why has this only just come out, the stuff from the lfc/manu FA cup game was part of most match reports.
This. Those arrest stats someone put out earlier showed we had two fans arrested for racist abuse last season. So if this bloke's the only one it means it's actually gotten better this season. Sadly there are racists in society, and some of those go to football games. Cos at the FA Cup game it was an excuse to drag out the old Evra / Suarez incident again. And the abuse was directed at a specific player who had already been found to have been racially abused, so you could argue that made it more worthy of reporting. Same reason newspapers are more likely report when a Holocaust survivor gets beaten up by neo Nazis, for example, but not when anyone else does.
Its all about the angle... Is it emotive, will it get cash out of pockets to buy the rag? OAPs and children sell more papers as victims than fully grown blokes do. Yet every ****in weekend, dozens get tanked up and beaten up. Hardly gets a mention at all. Random racism is the same; doesn't get much paper time, cos it doesn't sell - its not sexy! But at a footie match, especially in this febrile atmosphere...
Yup. And there is no bigger angle than accusations of racism between the two biggest clubs in England. The interest soon dies away tho'. Has anyone heard anything about that bloke who abused the Oldham defender since he was arrested about a month ago?
The arrest was the 'news'. Actually following through to see what the outcome is/was is boring when its about Joe Bloggs. When its a player/celeb/politico, the salivating, prurient, voyeuristic hacks are all over it. (Of course, its never reported if it involves a journalist, or a media owner, except in the likes of Private Eye)...
