Just desserts: John Terry has been stripped of the England captaincy for the second time in his career. FA chairman David Bernstein called the Chelsea defender to inform him of the decision at around 10am on Friday morning having consulted with the 14-strong FA board. A court hearing on Wednesday this week set a trial date of 9th July for Terry to face a charge of racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand during a match in October 2010. Terry denies the charge. The FA is yet to release a statement but sources close to the player have confirmed the story. The 31-year-old centre-back is still eligible to appear for Fabio Capello's England side at Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine, but speculation has mounted that he may now choose not to represent the team after this latest decision. It is not yet clear if the FA will consider reinstating Terry as England captain should he be cleared of any wrongdoing at his trial. Handing the captaincy to Steven "only man in a four-man beatdown to act in self defence" Gerrard isn't exactly sending out a message that acting like a scumbag will be punished. There's also the fact that, at the last World Cup, Terry was constantly undermining Gerrard within the England camp by continuing to act as if he were the captain. In other words, Capello would be wise to drop him completely, and maybe England could scrape through to the Quarter Finals.
Let's hope Terry does the decent thing and not only withdraws from the England side altogether, but also from the Chelsea side, at least until his trial has been heard.
That whole generation of England players has acted like arsholes quite consistently. Overprivileged bunch of twats, who have absolutely no class. There's a few exceptions, but you know you're in trouble when you're picking out someone like Gary Neville as an example of a decent person.
Terry still in the England team is going to unsettle the team. I think England are better off without him for the euro's.
Gary Cahill and Michael Dawson are both like-for-like replacements in terms of style of play, but certainly don't have the baggage or ability to destabilise the squad like Terry does. The fact that Terry said he shouldn't have lost the England captaincy in the first place when Capello returned the armband to him says it all. The man (to use the term loosely) isn't a footballer, he's a sociopath.
An arrogant idiot, who seems unable to distinguish between being clever (which is what he thinks he is) and low, devious cunning, (which is what he really is). Indeed, he displays all the classic sociopath symptoms.
The papers are reporting that his own team mates are turning on him. As I said in a much earlier thread, Terry's involvement in any part of the England team, will do nothing except cause division. He is bad news.
Club teammates or country teammates? Country isn't a surprise after the last World Cup, club would be interesting - he's been throwing his weight around in the dressing room for too long (aided and abetted by Lampard and Drogba), but with Lampard and Drogba marginalised this season it wouldn't be a surprise to see the rest of the squad getting sick of him having his way. Besides, any incoming Chelsea manager would improve their job prospects by selling him at the first opportunity.
We've got options at CB now, he's not needed at all let alone captain, a view not shared by the England manager. Even the most stupid MP's that cock up eventually realise their position is untenable, accepting widespread opinion opposite to yours, then doing the right thing and standing down. In not doing so, he has now made Capello have to be publicly undermined, his reaction to that so far is furious.
Things aren't going little Johnny's way. So first, all the toys. And then I suppose he'll be looking for somebody to blame. Because, as we all know, it can't possibly be anything he did wrong!
Phil Jones, Gary Cahill, Michael Dawson, Phil Jagielka - four very good reasons not to include Terry in the squad, so why not call his bluff and see if the little ****-bucket retires from internationals?

It's interesting that politicians are calling for JT to relinquish his England starting place (not just his captaincy). It was the intervention of a politician (Banks, MP) who got Hoddle the sack, following his "cripples are here to be punished for being bad in a previous life" comments. Watch now as the FA bends over backwards to appease Government.
