There are some MPs who are ruling this country have asked Terry to step down from England captaincy..for an alleged case against him. <doh>

Can't they see a football manager sitting in the dock? Why don't they ask him to step down? They really are blind C*nts.<ok>

The FA have been pretty weak in this, as per ****ing usual.

I understand people not liking Terry, but I also understand why he will not step down.

The FA should have acted on this weeks ago instead of bowing to political and public pressure and doing it now, which by all accounts is what they will do later today.

Surely you have to let this run its course.

If Terry is found not guilty and the f.a have stripped him of the captain's armband for the Euros they are going to look like right mugs. Or in the alternative, perhaps they should undertake their own investigation like with Suarez. Least I could them respect them for it.

Ultimately this is all an alleged incident where the player allegedly abused didn't even hear it.

Once again the sensationalist media and anti-Chelsea brigade will get what they want regardless of innocence or guilt.

Ironically the FA will probably appoint that brown envelope wielding tax dodger as the next England manager come August.

To be honest it's right that they act on it...this incident shouldn't overshadow any competition that we enter, and if he is dropped then so be it...

Let's not forget it's a pretty serious allegation, and he himself has admitted using the words, just in a different context to the allegations...

The CPS have to believe they can convict on the evidence they have, and there was a late submission of unseen footage which tipped the balance for this case to go ahead.

There will be players in the squad who think "I believe him" but if there are any that don't, and there will be, then it is a potential time bomb.

Yes inncocent until proven guilty, but not at the detrement of a team and our chances in a competition...

Can you not see the difference between club level, at which there is no pressure on Terry and International level, where he is being put under scrutiny and 'Arry has nothing to do with?

Also there's a huge difference in the contraversy of what they're charged with. Terry is alleged to have racially abused a fellow player whilst, 'Arry is accused of tax evasion.

How's the petition going against our new stadium receiving funding from the Mayor and the council? We announced the other day that we will be getting £27mill in funding from them, you're going to have to raise it in parliament pretty damn soon if you're going to reverse that <laugh>

I'm kind of unsure as to why there isn't a separate fa investigation anyway.

I used to be PoPo so I know that Terry's allegation falls under a hate crime, which means the person who is being abused doesn't have to hear it so long as someone else did, and thought it was racially motivated.

The fa set an precedent with the Suarez ban, now they have to stick to it.

Don't talk about things you don't understand, especially if you can't do it without throwing insults, it only makes you look even more stupid.

I'd assume it's because any FA ruling could bias the CPS trial so they have to wait until after the hearing. Plus the FA don't want to make a decision that's contradicted by a jury a few months later.

Kind of agree. What suprises me is the FA can make such a big decision without seemingly carrying out an investigation of their own.

If they looked at the evidence and felt Terry is guilty, ban him like Suarez and strip the armband. If they look at the evidence and think he is not guilty then business as usual. It just seems the FA were happy to let the criminal proceedings run their course before (presumably impossing a ban if guilty) and are now jumping the gun and imposing a punishment with the criminal proceedings still being concluded or without running their own investigation.

Given past history, I'm sure most people wont feel sorry for Terry, but if he is found innocent, he has been denied one of the highest honours in the game, leading your country out in a major tounament. If he is subsequently found guilt, he will be punished anyway with the fine and (presumably) f.a impossed ban.

Once again like with the bridge affair, it seems the F.A are just bowing down to public and media pressure mostly fueled by partisan hate for the player concerned.

If the FA want to sit on their thumbs until July then they should do just that. Such a weak organisation.

On a further note, given (despite the profile) how small a case this is, why the hell is it taking so long to be heard anyway.

I guess it is of no concern to the CPS, but get this issue dealt with before the Euros and then if guilty there wont be any complaints if he didn't captain England again.

All this just causes more unrest and disruption for England.

Just my $0.02 in peace, guys....

I was listening to BBC 5Live this morning, and they were talking to one of their football reporters who was with the England squad during, and after, the 2010 World Cup. Reference point to this is that JT had just been stripped of the captaincy after the whole Wayne Bridge / Vanessa Perroncel stuff.

He said that the most telling moment of the whole trip for him was when JT was made to front up at a press conference after the tournament and explain what had been going on in the dressing room (even though he wasn't captain). The reporter also said that he had read texts and notes between squad players (some still around the squad now) that showed a really divided dressing room, with factions on both sides and a true feeling of division in the camp, and this was evidenced on the pitch, where we didn't play at all well in any of the four games.

We're pretty much in the same position now.

We have allegations, and a pending court case, with JT as the protagonist. Now, I'm not going to speculate on whether he's innocent or guilty in this matter - that's been done to death by just about everyone in the country, and is for the magistrates to decide. However, it does appear that there are factions again, in the sport and indeed in the squad, and this close to Euro 2012 the last thing that the national team needs is the same issues and divisions raising their head. Innocent or guilty, there does appear to be an air of 'toxicity' that follows JT around, whether of his making or simply poor luck/judgement. Maybe having him out of the spotlight will help England's chances in the championship.

In truth, there are a number of centre backs who would likely be selected on form alone ahead of JT (and Rio Ferdinand, for that matter). Cahill, Jagielka, Lescott, Dawson, Jones, all are in good form at club level and have shown themselves capable at national level. Now that JT isn't captain, could it be that Capello will pick on form alone for the squad and the team?it'd be a refreshing change, and one not really seen since 1990 or 1996 - both times ironically when the manager knew that win or lose, he was moving on. Exactly where we are now.

As I said - this is posted in peace and not wanting to get into arguments, but thought it added to the conversation a bit.....

I do agree with a lot that you have said. One big issue is if this going on causes fractions in the dressing room, regardless of whether Terry is captain or not, this will still go on. Therefore do you tell the players to man up and get on with it or do you drop Terry entirely. For me its even more reason to get the Court decision before the tournament but that seems unlikely.

I think ultimately you have to see the support Suarez got off the Liverpool players and generally I think those who like Terry will support him, those that don't wont. This case is unlikely to really effect how the other England players are with Terry. You can't get on with everyone you 'work' with so I think you pick on form and they have to get on with it.

Where I disagree with you is that there is no centre back who has the experience, quality, fitness or form for England at the moment. Terry has been one of our best players these last couple of months and on form, deserves to go to the Euros and deserves to play.

The petition's target is 100k so it can be discussed in parliament.

Local issues affecting MPs' constituencies are frequently raised and discussed in parliament so stop talking out of your arse :D
