On the Portsmouth News website some fans are suggesting that one way we could help them in their hour of need is if we went to Fratton Park and watched them. This would increase their gate and hence their revenue stream. Would you do this?
In theory, Yes. In practice, seeing as I can never get time to see Saints anyway, probably No. I would be there in spirit, if that helped..!
I'd rather not; 1) I don't want Fratton Park to fall down with a rare sell out 2) I would be stinking of fish when I leave 3) Where were they when we were going out of business? BUT despite that, i do want Portsmouth to survive, even if they have to start again non-league!
I was reading the comments about this on the snooze website earlier and although some were in support of this idea others (one in particular) stated that they would sooner go out of business than ask us for help. Sums up the mentality of some of their fans on that site. A good idea in theory but sadly the yobs would see it for nothing more than to have a go at those genuine football fans trying to help them out in their hour of need.
Shocked that anyone would say yes. why can't they fill their own ground? they did afterall have 200,000 people there to cheer them when they won the cup, and they are the 'best fans in the world', so why would they need our help? or are their fans not as good as they like to tell everyone?
I agree. And some of the fans aren't up to much. Actually every big city I've lived in has had more than their fair share (whatever a fair share is - who decides and then who hands them out? Is it the government?)
I know some of you are on the Echo site, for those that are not, I posted the following but got minimal response, what do you think, "One thing I have been considering about the situation, when we were in the similar situation it appeared to some of us that outside agencies were trying to destroy our club, I think it was the reaction from the supporters that nipped that in the bud, there was great anger against the people concerned and we were responsible for removing the cancer that was eating away, I think that this was also the reason that we were saved by people that recognised our support and desires and thought we were worth rescuing. Now I see a deja vu situation, however all I see from Skate posters is anger against us and no attempt to deal with the culprits who are destroying their once proud soccer club. There seems to be no concerted attempt to fight for the cause, no urgency in reaching a solution, just a peevish wait and see attitude. I, among many others were in constant contact with the Football League fighting our cause. I would like to think we had some small input into the outcome. If PFC is to survive they need to be doing more direct action." I hasten to add I am no expert on what the Pompey fans have already done.
A large share, which is far from fair. However, you can't lay the blame for fecklessness, indolence and inbreeding at the door of the government - or can you? When I got away games I cringe at some of the specimens that seem to follow our club.
