Try it, you'll see. With Ilchester applewood smoked cheese, on poppy and sesame seed crackers, to follow.
my work takes me to Belgium and I enjoy a glass or two while I'm there. ironically, the last time I stayed in holland with work, the hotel served Leffe Dark on tap.... I would have thought a dutch beer would have been served. Did you know it is available in Tesco?
Yes, Leffe is fantastic stuff, blonde and the brun. But this is opening another whole sphere of drinking pleasure, Belgium beers. Duvel anyone? About 9%, delicious stuff, but to be respected!
Youv'e got me there, I don't think its a trappist beer, its a similar colour to Leffe, they serve it in fantastic glass, like a more curvey Brandy glass, taste belies its strength. you should get it in a decent Tesco, sainsburys etc.
First time I was in Belgium I took €250 off some mugs, bet me that I couldn't drink 10 Duvel in 2 hours and then hold the contents in my stomach for 30 mins afterwards. Needless to say I did it, as soon as I got my money, it all came up and I had an early night. I was 18 at the time and €250 seemed like a lot of money.
The very lovely Mrs Godders buys me the occasional 4 pack when she goes shopping at Asda in Chandlers Ford.
just read up on it and noticed the brewery is just south of Antwerp .... coveniently where one of my customers is based.
