As an Irishman I am obviously interested in the young buck. Seen him playing a couple of times for Derry and he looked the ticket, quick and fearless with a good end ball. Love my wingers. Having only been able to catch the FA cup game on tele and the odd tit bit on MOTD I'm just looking for any Sunderland fans opinion on him and his overall contribution ie tracking back etc.

Ps Syd, party's over, truce, it's even boring me now <ok>

We had someones pants down when we signed him because he must be worth about 6million now. He has got it all, pace, power, strength in the air he can shoot he can cross. Only thing is he is a little inexperienced still and needs to learn the game a bit more but what a prospect.

Great comparison, the likeliness in their play is uncanny!
    Bale's got more pace though!

He's a quality player, imagine how many extra points we couldve had if Bruce picked him!

A really good start to his Sunderland career and like others have said he's an absolute steel for the money we paid. The only chink in his armour is that he is completely left footed, but I'm sure that MON will work his magic on him and get his right foot to do some of the work ;)

As others have said, a truly great prospect. Only thing which stops him being really top class is he's not much of a flair player, never really see him use a trick to beat a man. But that's really his only downfal imo, I still think he'd walk into pretty much any team outside the top 6.

Not really mate. Derry got a good deal, that's just the kind of money we can expect for players. 350k is top end. A young fella from my club Cliftonville just joined Swansea for 200k. Wouldn't surprise me if he ends up worth A few million soon enough. Rory Donnelly.

Still very raw and no doubt will get sussed in the not too distant future but, looks a very very good prospect. He is fast strong and is not scared of running at defences or having a shot, something we've been missing for a few years now. Reckon he'll be a good player in the future and, no doubt the big clubs will be sniffing around soon.

If they had been smart they would have had a sell on clause in his contract, add on's for so many appearances or international appearances
