That stat is just silly because you need Valencia to have had more attempts for a more accurate ratio. He could have scored in his first attempt and you can argue that he's scored with 100% of his shots. Or he could not score with his next 10 attempts and only have a 10% goal/shot ratio. Bale is just used differently. It's his job to come in and score goals, whereas Valencia is more of a traditional winger - get past your man and get the ball in. Also, Utd's attack is better than Spurs, so Valencia always has more options. I'm not saying you need Bale to replace any of your current players, I'm just pointing out that it's incredibly hard to compare.
Bales main asset is his pace, which is also the first to go with age or injury. As to the best player in the EPL, surley Yaya Toure?
IS anyone aware that we made a bid for Bale many moons ago, but he chose spurs over us for Guaranteed first team football.
People said the same with Giggs, Bale has more than just pace, Aaron Lennion is a pace player, Bale is blessed with great crossing, attacking instinct, shooting accuracy, dead ball, positioning in and around box when off the ball and works hard for the team. Question is do we need Bale, and I would say no, the CM is still weak even when we do get Ando and Cleverly back.
I thought it was cos Spurs offered a big lump sum, whilst we wanted a deal based on future appearances? Southampton really needed the cash at the time, so they took the money.
You lot leave Bale alone, don't know why the comparisons to Valencia? Bale is left Valencia right or am I wrong? He is one of the best in the PL and probably the best left winger in the world. IMO of course.
