Given that MON has overseen a remarkable turnaround, what would the score be if a MON XI played against those same players managed under Bruce? Was Bruce really that bad, how would our other main managers over the past 15 years have fared against each other with the same players? MON v Bruce MON v Keane MON v McCarthy MON v Reid Bruce v Keane Bruce v McCarthy Bruce v Reid Keane v McCarthy Keane v Reid McCarthy v Reid (Hope I've done that correctly!)
Not even for poops and giggles? I didn't intend this on providing a platform to bash anyone in particular, just thought it might be interesting, nevermind.
I think it was stated last night on Sky - MON's start is the best any sunderland manager has made in the last 100 years - and we've won the title twice, runners up twice and FA Cup twice in that period... Think that makes it easier to compare - as MoN has them all playing whereas Bruce couldn't get that out of them
But thats the thing, Under Bruce, we never got beat by more than 1 goal, the problem was that happened 8 times this season alone, We never looked liked getting turned over, and we were scoring from all over the pitch. Its very fine margins, Campbell coming back has been a huge boost over the past 2 games, McLean has been a revelation, and I believe he has been the spark we needed, why Bruce never played him? Probably because things were going bad and didnt think he could be as good or change our fortunes as much as he has. MON has got a lot to do with it as well, chapaz keeps saying its a honeymoon period, 1st 2-4 games maybe, but not 10 games into his tenure. I am not getting overly carried away, there are few gripes i have got, but scared to voice them incase i get shot down big time, things are going really well at the minute, and long may it continue, but we will get bad results from now till the end of the season, its how we bounce back from those that will count.
They are not Huge gripes. O`Shea, He just cant head the ball more than 10 yards out of defence and it usually goes straight to the opposition, Elmo is the same but at least when he does it, its 80 yards up the pitch. Kicking it O`Shea is fine, but its like he has a sponge forehead, and cant get any power/distance into them at all. Gardner, He keeps hold of the ball far too long, it happened against Boro and again last night, Crowd is screaming "MAN ON!" or "Pass Left" (Well i was last night when McLean was in tons of space) and he keeps it and gets robbed of the ball when we are in a very promising postition. We drew and won so it hasnt been brought up, its just some things that get on my tits a bit lol PS: Yes, i know when we signed them i said i wasnt impressed at all, but they have been good, just those 2 things that have me screaming.
cheers steve i have notices gardener a few times caught in possesion and i think mon will have also. otherwise i am happy happy happy lets keep this good run going
There are some things you think twice about writing....But here goes What I want to say could be open to massive criticism but maybe theres something in it -I dont think Steve Bruce was ever happy at Sunderland- Its that old thing about the team reflecting the manager He looked badly overweight and didnt look as though he was enjoying life Maybe he couldnt even admit it to himself and when he went he more or less pulled the trigger himself Saying youve got a broad back and youll tough it out all the time....is different from saying weve got a tough job here and Im going to roll my sleeves up and be happy about it..... Bruces signings were fantastic but....Its going to be interesting to see where he goes and if he could be happy....The initial period at Wigan was good for him I think
How bloody dare you....... Only joking mate...There's nowt wrong with expressing opinions, just as there's nowt wrong with arguing against someone elses opinions...That's what forums such as this are all about.....As for yours...
