Good stuff in the first half - Murray and Kaca have both got pace and hodson bombing on down the flanks - there were some good balls in; Garner should have had 2 before Deeney scored. Reverted worryingly to hoof in the second half - that and Eusty's wafty hopeful balls - but overall a great evening. Loach had a good one - the pen can't be laid at his door, Doyley should have cleared it into row Z and Marquis went down very easily. As for the penalty itself -Hendo is a Hornet!
Great team performance last night under difficult circumstances. As has been written above, just listening to SD on 3CR you could tell how proud he was of the team and how they reacted. Need to push on with this team and repeat this against Barnsley on Saturday - talking of Burnley, not sure if it has been mentioned elsewhere, but a good bit of business by Betty getting Clark Carlisle on loan.
**** me, was the referee a Watford fan?? Him, and the two linesmen's decisions were woeful. we had a player booked within 5 minutes for **** all. Yet a tackle was made on that player a minute after that which warranted a yellow card and the ref just walked away. You played OK. Your defenders rolled around to win free-kicks or either climbed all over our strikers enough to please the referee into giving us **** all. Your first goal was taken very well, though the free-kick which led to the goal was never a foul. 2nd goal, we defended terribly and you capitalised on it. I left with 5 mins left as I could see no way back for us, so I missed the whole penalty episode (thankfully). But well done, you came to us and got the result, regardless of the dismal perfomance of the referee. You seem to be a bit of a bogey team for us at the moment.
He looks to be doing a good job (typical ex-Millwall player ) but I am always skeptical of the word 'experienced' as in life, that doesn't always mean the person is good at the job they're doing - just they have had more time in the job and should be good but not always
Experience - it means that whilst you won't make that mistake again - you'll make a different mistake instead!
Having watched the highlights i would have to wonder if Doyley was actually thinking of having a shot. He was in the best position to do that, so might have got a 2nd. And if Garner did not score then i think Lloys would have mopped up the rebound and poached a strikers goal.
He seems to do it against london clubs!! I say stick him up front as a striker for 10mins one game and see what happens lol.
I'm not sure if I want him to score again (apart from in his testamonial(s), obviously). How many players can retire and say that 100% of their goals were goal of the season?
Thats a good point. But then again, i think any goal he scores will be goal of the season. Such is the love for him.
The main negative I got out of this match is the criticism of Loach. Every game....too many fans are criticising him and all it does is make Loach resent us, the club and lower his confidence. Every time he makes a save...kicks a ball...he is sarcastically applauded and it's really bad.
