Bates told Yorkshire Radio . "We spent over £12m on wages so why are people blaming me for the recent results? "All the money we have received has gone back into the squad. The manager decides who he wants to buy, we as the board just pay for it. I only said no once." "People are blaming me for taking the club to near financial ruin, lies, lies and more lies. I'm Yorkshire born and bred."
Bates on the radio last night was interesting. Would be good to get a balancing stement from SG. If it really is true that the Board only said no to Grayson once & that was in this transfer window, it just shows that maybe, just maybe, some of our fans may not be quite as knowledgeable on financial stuff as they may think. Anyway, we are where we are. We all hope for the right man coming in. Rumours will fly around. But let's hope that NR & the Team can repay SG with a convincing performance as a mark of respect to Grayson. I say they will, & we'll tonk Brizzle 4-0. I 'kin hope so anyway.

Jimmy, just read that. I know we are going to linked with everyone but ince FFS? Would fit the wage structure but look at his record, shocking! Not to mention he is an ex red. Would he get **** off you lot at the den for being an ex hammer?
He has a job though. I must say I am shocked by the decision. How on earth can he sack a manager that is only 3 points off the play-offs?
To be fair we have been playing poor for a while. Before the Birmingham game the previous 3 games the other teams have been reduced to ten men & we havent looked like scoring before then. Goals are drying up & the deffence keep making the same old mistakes. I would have let him go earlier (if at all) but then the new gaffer would want some funds to spend in the window to sort out Graysons mess & to stamp his authority over the squad. i said at the beginning of the season that Bates would let Grayson go straight after the transfer window. Minimum pay out (half a seasons wages) and no need to lay out a cash sweetener for the new gaffer.
All true apart from the minimum pay-out. Grayson had 18 months left on his contract so that would cost Bates a few quid Hope Grayson takes him to the cleaners!!
