Morning All, -7C here at the moment, but should rise during the day in the blazing sunshine to -3C. More snow forecast for the weekend and there is little likelihood of the present lot going before then. The meteo reckon that it will be next Thursday before the temperature gets in to positive figures.:emoticon-0101-sadsm

Hot coffee will be required at regular intervals as I have one or two jobs that I must do outside. At least the roads are clear and I will not have to postpone a rather good dinner that is promised for tomorrow. Lovely restaurent in Montmorillon alongside the river gets the taste buds warmed up.

morning all, blinkin' freezing and more outside. Need a car rug! lol. New carpet arrives today for Little Miss Hornette's bedroom...it's taking shape. Can't wait to start getting the IKEA stuff together! That'll be my job this afternoon :). It was hugely amusing last night trying to get the old carpet up and out from under all the cupboards that i can apparently keep in the room while they lay the carpet...and then managing to push and shove and pummel the carpet out the window was fun lol.

What a hideous episode in Egypt...not only 74 dead so far, but another stadium set on fire when they heard about the invasion...good grief. Matches banned til further notice...unbelievable.

Morning all, from a bright and cold Gloucester;) I was planning to swap over some light fittings in the kitchen, when we bought the house they had light fittings but have been trying to find shades to fit to no avail:( So as the good lady was back at the weekend we thought we would get some new light fittings as in spotlight type ones;) So today I opened the box and tried to decipher the instructions<yikes> talk about gobbledeegook, I did not realise I needed a degree to understand what the hell they are talking about. Maybe if I had some one to read the instructions whilst I was looking at the fixings already there maybe, just maybe it may make sense. So yet another task that takes two I cannot complete<grr>

So, the carpet fitters are here. Now i know that usually one has to clear a room before the fitters come in, but i did tell the shop that the room wouldn't be clear, so that set everything off on the wrong foot! Now, it seems, the doors don't have enough room beneath them for the carpet, so i was asked to take the door off. Of course, the decorator has painted in the hinges, so i'm not going to do it, because i don't want to ruin the paint work, so i suggested that they fit the carpet with the doors open and we'll worry about shaving the bottoms off another time. The surly git (sorry! lol) gave me the worst look of disgust i've ever received. Should i tip him? I'm thinking not!

The conversation went something like this:

Man : you have to take the door off
    Me : how?
Man : you have to take it off!
Me : i can't, you tell me how
    Man : i won't do it
    Me : i didn't ask you to
Man : you have to take the door off, i won't do it
Me : yes, i realise you don't want to, but tell me how i can
Man : i can't, it's not for me to take the door off
Me : never mind. Leave the door open and put the carpet under the door.
Man : ok, but you should take the door off.

    Aggghhhhhh!
