Went off the rails (honestly, no pun intended) in his later years didn't he. Depression took over him.
Sad end to a great life.

I can only really vote for Shearer as he's the only one i've seen play in real life...Having said that, the fact he was a) the most expensive player in the world b) the highest scoring premiership player ever and c) the highest scoring Newcastle player ever speaks for itself!

He threw an ornamental duck at this son and grazed his head. His son panicked and sought help from his elder brother. He was due to appear at a hearing for child neglect and felt people were out to get him. He stepped on to the line at Low Fell. What a dreadful end to a great footballer.

For me, he has to be the greatest forward Newcastle ever had. He would have played longer for Newcastle but didn't have the required deferential attitude toward the directors that was common at the time. His return to SJP with Chelsea broke an attendance record that still stands.

Can only realistically vote for Shearer as I haven't seen any of the others play but what an unstoppable player in his prime!

When you create a thread, scroll down and select 'create poll' (I think it is). Then click the submit thread button below. It will then post the article, and give you a chance to put in the poll options.

Wyn was a great player from what I have heard, and a Welshman to. Agree with you though, Shearer was by far the best.

A great header of the ball and what a leap, he could teach Shola a thing or two.

I loved Andy Cole, however Shearer just shades it for me.

Andy was great too but for me the best partnership has to be Big Al and Ferdy.

I agree actually! Partnership wise it was excellant. Its just a pity they were only together for the one season (I hope i'm right with that, otherwise i'm going to look like a right prat)!
