...obviously not! i think it was assumed he might be after a couple of successful ones, but no, its an art none of ours are naturally gifted at imo. Sometimes time to think is the undoing of players who strike the ball well on instinct in open play.
I'd agree with those who say that a good part of his value to us is the fact that defences are terrified of him. You see him being triple marked sometimes. It must leave space for others like Modric to cause problems elsewhere. He's world class, no doubt in my mind about that. He's 22, and is destined to be one of the all time greats if he continues to learn, and develop.
Against Wigan last night, he was triple-marked, and breezed past them all as though they didn't even exist. I haven't seen any other player do that in the EPL.
chelsea's board has a garth Bale thread, they don't think much of him,but they don't realise he's better than anyone they have, they call it comedy 2 or similar, the bigger comedy is they, thinking Torres is going to score anytime soon
They're just jealous Totsfan, or even more stupid than I thought. If truth be told, they'd snap him up in a moment if they thought we'd sell.
The greatest joke in the EPL at the moment is the fact that, at a cost of £50 million and having scored only two goals in the EPL this season, Torres' bumper goal-haul works out at a very tasty £25 million per goal. Shrewd business on the oligarch's part.
Exactly how I see it. He's already in the FIFA 11, the only Prem representative. In my unhumble opinion, he's moving past superduperstar and into the walk on water stage. I'm terrified he'll get hurt by one of the players he's been torturing, as he was last year. Of the list, I'll grant you Silva's the one player you could make a good case for as more influential: the best player on the best team. But Silva's at his peak now, and Bale hasn't reached his yet. Also, as great as it is to have a superb playmaker, a player who can fly past anyone and score from long range can win more games by himself. On that front, that's true of RVP as well, but, again, he's at his peak, and Bale not only isn't at his, he may not be that close to it.
I wouldn't swap Bale for any of them but to improve the Spurs side I'd take RVP as well (wash my mouth out with soap time). Silva is class but in the same vein as Modric. Forget the others
'Against Wigan last night, he was triple-marked, and breezed past them all as though they didn't even exist. I haven't seen any other player do that in the EPL.' Henry? Ronaldo? Drogba?
A ridiculous, ridiculous statement to make. Giving a Spurs fans a bad reputation, Ronaldo used to get quadruple teamed AND kicked out of the game and still score.
Given his habit of falling over when faced with one defender, or his absence against any team higher than seventh in the table, there's reasons people won't remember this.
i think all non Spurs dont seem to understand one simple thing...for us...Bale is as important as Ronaldo is for his teams..that doesnt mean we think he is better ..it means we think he is just as important for us in our team...if only you understand the essence of a team sport and relativity. For Bolton, Cahill was as important as Vidic is for Manchester United..or O hara is as important to Wolves as Modric is to us....understand?
Dona_mara I do understand this, yet I am saying he is not anywhere near as good as Ronaldo was when he was in the PL. Croydon So 2 goals in a year against Barca means nothing?
Not at Ronaldo's best, no. However,as has been said, he's still only 22, and nowhere near his prime. He's frighteningly good now though
i would agree that Bale is no Ronaldo.....30 plus goals a season every season isnt something everyone can do...if i was ever to say one thing that is better in Bale than CR it is that he is more of an all round player in a team..maybe that is due to Bale's ability to play in defence too. i would swap Bale for Ronaldo..but none of the other PL players mentioned.
