Xbpod, I got the impression that LIE was suggesting that AOB didn't actually have depression as such, but was making out he did to manipulate the situation, whatever that situation was. Funnily enough, we only heard depression mentioned after Gary Speed's death (RIP). May be nothing in it, but then again ....

Depression doesn't allow you to see things objectively and your decision making is blocked (your ego and id are at odds with reality) and you can't see the wood for the trees. Another case in point might be Gary Speed. It is not nice and he has asked for help. First step. Get Well Soon AOB.

As it goes, he seemed like a decent player when his head was where it needed to be.

The first step he took suggests to me he is indeed "manning up".

My point was, in my admittedly uneducated opinion, surely there are different levels of depression. Losing a child, being told you have cancer etc. To my mind being dumped by your other half (& if anyone knows any different that's what AOB was depressed about) does not constitute 'clinical depression, especially given the fact he plays for Leeds United, earning in two weeks almost as much as the average annual wage nationally.
Just my opinion of course, & Simon, you're right, I know nothing about the subject, & unless you've had years of training on the subject, you probably know as much as I do- I.e. also nothing.

Oh & Xbpod, jog on you sad little tosser.

I'm a medical student, who incidently learns a lot about mental illness, which is what clinical depression is, an illness.

Looks like you could do with going back to school to learn how to spell correctly.
Don't get depessed about it though.
