This looks bad for the justice system, and if he's found guilty, it'll reflect very badly on the FA if he leads England into the Euros...

Even if he is found innocent in a court of law, he should still have to face the FA over the incident as the level of proof the FA accepts (Balance of Probability) is so much lower. If he's found guilty there, its still a problem for the FA.

Any which way you look at it, the FA's handling is going to receive criticism. They should have removed the Captaincy and said it was '...so he can focus his energies on dealing with the charges."

The FA - Ballsing it up since 1863...

To be fair, the justice system is already in a bad enough state - a five month wait to go to court is actually quite short compared to some offences.

I'm also not sure if the FA can do anything now the case is sub justice. If they drop him from the team or take the captaincy away that could be seen as something that influences the court outcome, particularly due to the publicity, and could get them in a lot of **** if Terry's lawyers decide to kick up a fuss (and of course they will!)

I'm not the biggest fan of the FA's disciplinary system, but right now it looks like:

Rock - FA - Hard Place

It shows the FA to be a morally ubalanced institution that thinks a racially abused footballer should wait 9 months for justice just so that the national team is'nt weakened for a major tournament.

I'm understand that they have to wait for the Courts to act first before they undertake their own investigation, but I think they should simply remove the Captaincy. Its an issue of propriety, IMO. They bleated about Suarez damaging the image of English football, but using insulting language including a reference to race, but they are happy to continue to have Terry represent England and English Football across the sporting world with this hanging over him.

As I said, they should have removed the captaincy and said it was to allow him to focus his energies on dealing with the legal charges.

No pre-judgement, as no investigation could possibly be undertaken by the FA with criminal proceedings ongoing...

Its my opinion, pure and simple.

They don't piss about like this with drink driving offences. It's purely because of who he is. <doh>

Either that or that fact that I saw this sort of quote as an exception rather than the norm.

I take people as I find them and with the above mentioned poster 99% of the time he seems a good lad so I'm not going to jump all over him for something said in the heat of the moment & what seemed out of character ( after being wound up all day !!! ).

    Excellent news! Congratulations.

And just for the sake of balance, we received an e-mail from a Gooner we all know & love from 606 days, sadly his father passed away this morning. Gutted for them.

Many congratulations. Do we have a name yet? Did you enlist sweat's help as 'The Cleaner' to remove all the blood and gore from the scene of the birth?
