A bad, bad transfer window to be in financial trouble. Hardly any money being thrown around this year so it wouldn't surprise me if any offers for players were such low-balls that they were unacceptable.

But then, honestly, who do they have worth signing? They have a couple of good kids and Husselcarp. That's the only ones I know of note.

I heard that 3 offers were received and accepted by the club but the player terms could not be agreed because they couldn't match the player current wages. Nothing to do with loyality just money.

So those three players may have just about killed Pompey.

At the moment Pompey fans are saying they're heroes! Despite the fact they are not.

Swear a lot if their fans are in denial... <doh>

Hold on, the players haven't been paid this month so how could a player consider staying at Pompey if they are being offered (I would assume) decent personal terms elsewhere...!! Surely with the mess that Pompey are in the situation with wage payments isn't about to get a whole lot better over the next few months so would you hang around in the hope of getting paid at some point as opposed to a guaranteed salary elsewhere...?? Complete madness...!!

They may be holding on so they get a free in the summera nd the chance to negotiate better and more lucrative personal terms.

Hmmm, but that's still 4 or 5 months where they may (potentially) not get paid. Now I know with the salary that these guys are on they are no doubt in a healthier position than maybe you and I would be if we had to go a few months without wages but still, not sure I would take the same gamble.

And surely, if them moving on means a certain amount of income for Pompey at a time when they definately need it then surely that benefits both them and the club...??

If they remain unpaid, perhaps they can claim they are free agents and can negotiate a signing on fee elsewhere. Prepared to think there are a mixture of reasons they didn't want to move on, even including a sense of loyalty to the rest of the team, especially after such a good result on Saturday.

They should get a deduction now surely.

I'm considering not paying my taxes from now on and then saying in 6 months time 'Sorry'. Then pay back a fifth of what I owe <ok>

If pompey get liquidated on the 20th the players will be free agents then. So 19days isn't long to wait.

Just heard on the news that there has even been a question raised in the house of parliament asking Cameron to interfere and to intervene in the Pompey Saga. Would you believe he said he would. Does that mean he is going to use tax payers money to pay Pompey bills? Bloody heck the mind boggles...what ever next?

Don't FIFA have rules about governments getting involved in football? The only intervention that he could make is with the HMRC...and, he should remember, not every tax payer is a Pompey fan or even a football fan. The various owners at Pompey have behaved badly and illegally. Remember that they didn't pass on NI payments deducted from their own employees. They are operating whilst insolvent to avoid a points deduction following administration. It should be remembered that it's Portsmouth now but there are other clubs teetering on the edge...do they want to set a precedent? What about a building firm, a shop or a small manufacturer?

But through annual flooding, massively increases the fertility of the surrounding land resulting in a substantially increased agricultural output!

I suppose they are attacking this from the "it's not just a business it's a football club" angle. Which whether you agree with it or not, is a fair point. As Ms Mordaunt said, if a supermarket goes out of business then another one can take it's place, but you can't replace Portsmouth FC. On the other hand, you have to square this with the people who will lose money. Personally, I think they will hold out.

if the goverment helps them out with taxpayers money, i wonder how many people would fail to file there returns in future'
i don't want pompey to go out of buisness but the whole things become a joke, how long did it take the FA o issue us a points deductions i think it was 21 days, how long has it taking them with pompey - you guess.

Like most modern politicians he likes to play the down-with-the-kids populist line. He seems to have forgotten he's a Tory and as such is meant to believe in the free market. Pompey have got themselves into this mire, now it is for them to get out of it.:angry:
