Unlucky not to take all 3 points last night against a very in form team, good business IMO in the window and players coming back from injury.

West Ham showed last night how hard this division is but I'm confident we now have the squad to push on starting with a result at Birmingham on Saturday.

I'm feeling very positive this morning, Adkins must be having an affect!

How are you all feeling? and I don't want to know about your hangover saintnogreavsie!!

Pretty good, we started the season with a strong first 11 but a squad that looked very bare after a few knocks, the players we got in make us look a little less lightweight (still think we need a loan CB). With players coming back to fitness now we should be able to put together a nice tidy streak here, if we could get some concistancy going and avoid losses this month, we'll be in a very strong position, regardless of other results.

I feel very happy. In the bad old days, the major questions were which star/promising youngster would leave, and which over the hill overpaid wazzack would we bring in. Sir Nigel, and The Don are assembling a highly motivated squad, with cover in most areas which will challenge for the titls this year. The loan window is open, and i expect a bit more business in the weeks to come. All in all very content today, especially with WHU's hum iliation last night!

I am feeling a bit more positive but i think it helped alot west ham losing last night, i'm still very concerned with our current form but all the time teams around us are dropping points aswell i think it hides how bad we have actually been doing. Last nights performance seemed alot better than recent so i am more optimistic, a win at birmingham with a clean sheet would do me the world of good.

I'd feel more positive if our manager didn't see fit to keep connolly on the pitch for so long or spend £2m on Fox.

The first should sort itself out when Guly and Sharp are available for selection.

I just read that Adkins is happy with the squad after the transfer window, dunno why we tried and failed to sign a defender on loan then.

Nice to see Lallana and Puncheon back, Lambert firing on all cylinders and Lee looks a good prospect though.

I actually like Connolly, and feel that although he isn't as young as he used to be, the fact that he has played a higher level is a big plus. He still thinks and reacts quicker to opportunities as a result of his experience. And at the tail end of last season, he injected life into a tired looking forward line short of ideas.

Really like Fox too. A defender that gets forward and delivers crosses at pace is always going to be an asset. Most crosses at lower level football tend to be predictable lofty balls that keepers collect very easily.

And I don't think we have failed to bring in a defender on loan just yet, as it's still a possibility?

Agree. It's great to see Lallana back, and a focused Puncheon is definitely a bonus.

Looking forward to seeing Fonte and Chaplow back. What's the latest?

Given the arrival of Lee, Falque, Sharp, and the Puncheon revival, how do fans see Saints shaping up, line-up and formation wise.
Now that teams are wise to our build from the back strategy, and press us high up the pitch, how effective do you think we will be with regard to employing alternative tactics with the strengthened squad?

Transfer window is for permanent transfers, we can still bring in loanees in the next couple weeks. Assume Nigel is referring to being happy with our permanent squad

A point against Birmingham on Saturday would be massive. They're really in the zone at the moment.
Infact, I see the Blues and Reading as serious challengers to Saints automatic push.

Connolly had no chances in the last game, spent most of it drifting about just in front of the midfielders searching in vain for someone to mark him and still was second to every ball.

Against Leicester he had a couple of opportunities to turn it round for us and hit the ball like a granny. Not at full stretch like lee's chance last night, but like your typical Lallana shot that trickles to the goalie's feet.

Looks like a broken man to me.

We can still get in a defender on loan, but they won't be eligible for the play-offs will they?

Can't believe sotonist negativity. I'm happy. No-one ever wins 46 games in this division and we have players coming back from injury at the right time. We drew with the team one place behind us to stay in automatic promotion place. Three tough games to come next and then we can go on a good run

    Agreed, fatletiss.

I think we're now in good shape for a sustained push. But an additional CB would be a comfort.

Back on the bus boys. Stop the negativity. Draw a blue line under it. Get back in the building.

We are going up. say we are going up.

I don't think I ever got too down (as instructed by Nigel) as I didn't think we were playing that badly considering the injuries and I knew we had a great team (on and off pitch). Other teams have also had poor results, catching us up one minute and then fading (like Boro). I suspect I'd have felt different if we'd fallen 6 points behind West Ham, but we didn't. Missed a chance last night to go back to top, but have closed a bit on West Ham and improved GD on them. I think within a few games we will have reeled them back in and got it back in our own hands again.

Have always believed our 1st eleven is better than any team is this league. Dip in form (always going to happen) and lack of depth in squad has led to poor results. What with players now coming back from injuries and reinforcements in the building I feel really positive. Battered Cardiff 2nd half and unfortunate not to get 3 points.
WHU have no given right to get out of this league and I've got a sneaking feeling they won't, convinced we'll win up there. Brum's going to be tough but if we can play our football I reckon we'll get something there as well.

channon i completely agree. I was a bit bemused when we signed fox for that sum, however he is a huge step up in class to Harding, I was at the ricoh when cov pulled it back to 2-2, we needed a bit of quality from somewhere, and who steps up and sticks one on a plate for guly to nod us back in front... Yep it was Fox who was outstading that match, and several others this season.

Harding tries hard, and I do like him, but we notice it when fox isnt there, as we do richardson when he doesnt play.

connolly has been great for saints, am amazed at the other thread which completely slates him. nodding my head in amazement at some peoples views. Can only think they havent played football at a standard higher than pub leagues!
