You only lost one player in the transfer window . You must have a new buyer lined up , or else BC is about to put more money in ?

IMO, we were stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea as far as selling players was concerned.

    1. Hold on to the players (and their wage bill) and wait for a buyer to come in and sort things out.
    2. Hold a fire sale, get the bills paid but get relegated to League One and possibly to League Two next year.

I think option One is [albeit risky] the better option, as a Championship side is going to be more appealing than a struggling league One side to an investor.

I would like to think that something positive is happening as the players rumoured to go would have paid the taxman at least. As we ourselves are not in administration who is responsible for paying the players, how much does BC have to do with it. Never a dull moment being a Pompey fan, (please someone grab a hold of the situation and SORT IT once and for all !!!!!!!!). Ah thats better.

But if you don't get a buyer then administration/liquidation is the price the club will pay...

Simply because those players chose to stay.

Yes I can admire their commitment but if no buyer is found then it is starting to look like curtains..!

Not a WUM, a true fact!

Rickie comes on here, no matter what is happening elsewhere, but some Southampton fans only come on here, when they've lost and well, you know the rest.

There are more things 'tween heaven and earth than the eyes can see Rickie.

Those players decided to stay.......... for more than one reason - there's the one they are telling us - ie. their commitment to the club, and the one they aren't - what they believe is going to happen over the next few months. It does appear that they were given the choice because they are still with us and weren't forced to leave, although they feared that could happen.

We were told yesterday that Asmir Begovich cried when he was sold, against his wishes.......... and we all know the story of Benjani.

Just something about our club............. perhaps it's the supportive fans that Hendo talked about <ok>

You did get a million off Arry and then sell him to Stoke though, I chuckled when I read about that.

with regards to selling players, there are legal reasons as well as moral ones......as to why players stayed.

Under the circumstances we find our selfes in, no company is allowed to asset strip once HMRC have served a winding up order, you can serve notice to releive stock/ assets which have to be approved by the court...........any player sale would have to be ratified by the FL and a court to ensure that player met a fair market price.......and was not sold on the cheap.........

ALL the players were asked by DL and MA yesterday at training whether any one had a wish to leave the club.....especially in light of the financial situation and in light of rumours for certain players.........I am happy to report that ALL the players showed unity in wishing to stay.

Ryan's move to Fulham has been on the cards for several weeks and is not as a direct result of the current situation.

Ipswich were the ONLY club who made a move for any PFC player in as far as making bids, seven other clubs made enquirys about 4 different players, but DL made every enquiry aware of the player contract/ asset law and that PFC would not accept knock down bids, he also made all clubs aware that no player wished to leave and that it would take a lot to convince a player to leave............again, Ipswich were the only club to persue bids.......and YES they were below the clubs player value. Cosequently we keep our players/ assets.

Another note you will be pleased to know, is that there are on going talks with interested parties, and I am lead to believe that there is advanced talks with one group in particular, who made it clear that player sales could harm any potential sale.............

Hold tight my friends, it may get rougher before the light shines..........but light will shine ;)

bornpompey - you probably have the answer to this then, Jewell was quoted as saying that Clegg, his Chairman, was dealing with the Administrator. Was that the case? Because it was pretty underhand as far as I could see.

As far as I know, AA was not directly involved in player enquiries, his role as appointed administrator for CSI is to safeguard the charge held by chainrai......chainrai placed CSI into admin for missing the first.....yes first purchase payment to him.......Chainrai is a clever man, he had been tipped the wink that Antonov was about to be rumbled.........and started to make provision to protect his interests.

Chainrai, although he publically states does not want to own us, will not let his investment just dissapear........its too much money that belongs to his family, and although he may play rough with HMRC etc......he wont let us go to the wall, thats why I say it may get rougher before it gets brighter <ok>

I firmly believe, based on no facts whatsoever, just gut instincts - that we are going to be alright. I'm planning my trips down to FP safe in the knowledge that the club will still be standing at the end of the season. <ok>

Well, if BP is right and we survive we must all come to terms with the likelihood that recovery will be slow and we will have to endure some lean and frustrating years - and probably that them up the road may have the ascendancy for some time. But if that's the price for survival then it's a small price.

    Hope springs eternal.

    You say:-

Not quite correct my friend as we had a bid for 2 players accepted, your club HAD agreed a fee with us but the players couldn't agree personal terms.
Obviously you wanted to sell, which tells me that maybe you are not 100% convinced that you will find a new backer.

Personally i hope you do find the necessary backing and that it is someone who can give you stability at last. No more quick fixes etc, proper backing from someone that is reliable!!
