Pav on loan till the end of the season, I would jump at that. Pav on a permanent deal with the Gyan thing hanging in the air? - Is somebody having a laugh here? We are going to sort out that Gyan situation before ANY big signing up front. Gyan is worth a bomb to the marketing team, Pav is not - it's not me making these decisions, it's the board of directors and the owner. Figure it out.

Gyan is worth a bomb to the marketing team?

Surely Mensah and Sully Muntari were as well, who btw wasnt good enough for us, but has went from Inter Milan to AC Milan today (wonders never cease eh lol).

And if he was worth so much why let him go to Dubai with 300 crowds and no worldwide TV at all (as far as i know).

And another thing, surely you get players who can actually play for you, not for marketing purposes.

Bendtner is on Loan remember, so why not have Pav and Gyan next season, because we certainly wont have Bendtner.

    1) No, Mensah and Montari do not do that dance when they score. They are not tv gold-dust. Gyan is.

    2) Muntari went from Inter to AC today - well, what a c*nt Steve Bruce was for playing him out of position.

    3) Wghy let him go to Dubai? Well, he went to U.A.E., not Dubai. But letting him go there bought SAFC time to sort out the problem here without losing a first-class asset. I think the problem was solved eight weeks ago.

    4) "surely you get players who can actually play for you, not for marketing purposes" - get real. Football is about money, and therefore marketing, these days.

    5) "why not have Pav and Gyan next season". Money? And who would we drop to accommodate both of them?

I love your post. Frankly, it harks back to the game I loved fifty years ago.

I thought he would be marketing gold because he scores goals, not because he can dance, but hey you learn something new every day.

another brucie blunder then, but most on here were saying he was crap, even in his correct position.

    UAE/Dubai/Abu dabi same bloody thing.

you need at least 4 strikers these days, so having pav and gyan wouldnt be the end of the world for whickam/campbell (cant see Ji or Noble making it tbh).

but my point still stands, if Gyan is pure gold dust, why say yes to a loan deal, when they play infront of 300 fans and the only footage you can get, is a crap 2 minutes on a mobile on youtube? it doesnt make sense.

There's at least 100,000 reasons a week Gyan went.

And at least 6,000,000 we let him.

Agreed, I have a feeling Gyan might want to get back in the limelight next season. We will either sell him and make a fortune or he will stay for a season and play his socks off so he gets a move to one of the big 6.

I have a feeling he might be off to Arsenal. Just something someone in the music biz said to me that made sense.

Steve - had a few bevvies last night. Sorry I didn't put it a bit better. And yes, Dubai is in UAE.

The point about Gyan is kids all over the world want to see him score because he'll do his crazy dance. T.V. companies love something like that. And the whole point of sponsoring someone is to get publicity for yourself - so I'll sponsor Sunderland if they have a tv asset like Gyan, but maybe wouldn't otherwise. It makes sense from the sponsor's point of view. And, therefore, our boardroom wants him here.

And that's why the loan made sense. He clearly wasn't happy here at the beginning of the season, but not enough to stick a transfer request in. He's never had a wrong word for SAFC as such. So we talk the problem over, farm him out for a year (and pocket £6m for doing it) then we solve the problem, and bring him back. On the field? - He's a good player who scored eleven last season with a very negative midfield. He'll probably get more in front of the present midfield. I think it was well handled by all concerned. Gyan didn't mouth it off to the press. He went to someone at the top and discussed it in private. The 'someone at the top' got a good offer for both the club and for Gyan and took it. Smiles all round except for Bruce. And of course we had to watch him well off his game for the first month of the season. It was o.k. I think.

But that's the sequence we're looking at - The board wants sponsors, sponsors want publicity, tv wants the dance-man. Gyan is potentially worth more to this club than just a £20m transfer fee. If he wants to come back at a wage we can afford, he is coming back.
