    ..Well not quite, but I have formed a theory..

    THE TYPE OF THEORY THAT WOULD RAISE THE TITANTIC AND MAKE CHARLIE SHEEN NORMAL AGAIN!!

    What if Mike Ashley plans on spending the whole £35m on new players this summer (it would keep the fans sweet and not cost him a jot, as he valued Carroll at £1m and then could keep all the money from the league for tv rights and extra money depending on the position, increased revenue from sponsors etc) but is worried that common knowledge of us having £35m would lead to us being ripped off.

    For example, if you had a £10m valued player and Man City approached you, you would immediately tell them your rate him at £20m to try and extract as much money as you could from that soul-less football club.

    If we went after a £10m striker when we have made it public knowledge that we have £35m, what's to stop some other team doing the same and doubling the asking price, hoping that we meet somewhere in the middle.. therefore, ripping us off.

    What if MA is giving mixed messages out about the £35m to prevent this?

    the 35million is for Transfer fees and wages
    so in theory we dont have 35million to spend on players

    So he's trying to give the impression that even though he has the £35 million from the sale of Carroll; actually he doesn't have the £35 million from the sale of Carroll even though it's common knowledge that Carroll was sold for £35 million and Mike has £35 million from the sale of Carroll... but doesn't.

    Don't know about the term 'genius'... perhaps clinically insane?

    Its a possibility... ... Seems too clever for the man though.

    Forbs new Rich List is out today. MA is estimated at being worth 1.17 billion, the 651st richest Brit.
