Come on guys we all know Chaps cannot help have a negative opinion of anything we do... he loves to dress his digs up as 'reasonable football banter' but in reality he's just a persistant non-offensive WUM with an unjustified superiority complex

This isn't banter. It's just the gods honest truth. I don't think Wayne Bridge is very good. At all. Do you?

If you don't like it, put me on ignore. I encourage you to do so. Means I can discuss things without other people having a whinge about it.

Not quite. If he does flop, it means you're still struggling in the left back position right up until the end of this season. I presume the whole point of signing Bridge is to add that temporary boost of quality in the LB position to carry you guys through until Summer. If he flops, it's a failure in that area.

Jesus Christ Chappy, you'd have the whole cast of Mock The Week reaching for the sleeping pills.

I reserve judgement, we all moaned when we signed Bramble and he has been decent on the pitch. We moaned about Brown and apart from the odd very rare error he has been excellent so you never know.

You want the truth? You can't handle the truth. No truth- handler, you. Bah! I deride your truth-handling abilities

We have Richardson or Bardsley, if we didnt loan Bridge we would still just have Richardson or Bardsley, If Bridge fails, we still just have Richardson or Baardsley, if he is great, we have Bridge, Richardson, Bardsley who can play there.

I am not over enthralled with this either, but if MON can get the best out of him, fantastic, if not then we still have Richardson/Bardsley to play there, its not like we have no one, and are pinning our hopes on just Bridge.

Yeah, but you get what I mean though, right? If you had signed a much better left back, even a promising youngster on loan, then you would have Richardson, Bardsley and this new LB who could potentially be better than them both.

All I'm saying is that I'd understand why some mackems would be disappointed if they had their sights set a little higher. That's not an unfair statement, surely?

I find it quite touching how concerned our cousins are for us but be honest, does anyone give a toss what they think. Its easy to have faith when we are winning and signing those exciting players, lets keep some faith now, if Marty wants Bridge then thats fine by me.

Will chappies thoughts improve our team, not really.

Im not thrilled but LB has been a problem and for as good as McClean has been i think Richardson would help by competing for the LW position as the kid may get burnt out with too much too soon.

    Brilliant move on MON's part.
As I said elsewhere I don't think MON is going to just hoy money at players and hope for the best, like the previous incumbent.
Any permanent long term signings will wait for the summer.
Our smart manager is doing his best to finish this season with a flourish, something we couldn't even dream of a few short weeks ago!.
Loan deal for a position we have begged to be filled for years. Total win win.
Puts Richardson warming the bench where he belongs.
If MON can get the lads head right after his off field problems, we are well sorted.
An England international with pedigree and I'm betting a point to prove to Citeh!
People are slanging him off as if they have watched EVERY match he has played. (Especially the likes of ignorant Chappedarse and his unwashed mates, any one listening to those thick ****s deserves all they get.)
The matches I have seen Bridge in he has been pretty solid, yes he has made mistakes all players do, even the likes of Cashley!
I think some of you will be pleasantly surprised to see a good partnership develop between Bridge and McClean, plus McClean wont need to do all of Bridges work for him like he has to for Ricco.
I totally agree with MON this is the wrong time of the year to be looking at long term players for the positions we are short.
That's why I think Davies will be a good stopgap too, not just as a player but as a person. He can bring on our young forwards.

    A Bridge too far?
I don't think so, a proven international LB as opposed to a player who can't pass to a team mate 5 yards away.

IMO. If Bridge turns out to be piss poor he will still be three times as good as Richardson.
If he is total ****e, then only twice as good.
Not a player I wanted but I'm happy that we have him.
Is it true that McCartney kept him out of the West Ham side?
    Let's see how he does.

Dont forget Colback, who did a bloody good job there.

I am actually more worried about the RB position. Cos we have Bardsley and Gardner who can play there, but no one else unless MON sees Elmo as a potential RB and please dont say O'Shea cos he was **** as a RB (bloody good CB though)

I love this move. **** all the negativity, this is gonna work out well. He'll partner McClean extremely well and we'll provide massive headaches from the LEFT SIDE for anyone playing us.

MON is a very smart man.

I only wish people would stop moaning before he has kicked a ball for us. As someone else said we had lots of fans complaining after we signed Bramble but a few games in and they were raving about him.

Anyway signing Bridge means we have a Left Back and that means we could move Ricco to centre back :emoticon-0102-bigsm
