I could not agree more with this! Sums up the fickle nature of most fans who complain about the obscene amounts of money and the arrogance of such players, who then are willing to forgive as long as that said player is wearing your clubs jersey! Someone needs to draw the line, I would love nothing more than the guys career to be ruined but sadly there are many more fickle supporters than those with integrity!
It has been made clear that the Wrexham goalkeeper is the only piece of action happening this transfer window.
And how has the Liverpool way worked for us so far since the 80's? Sometimes, we just need that extra bit of quality. Don't get me wrong, I hate Tevez with a passion but he can win matches and he will win more matches than Carroll ever does. The way I see it, is Tevz is only short term - he will want to move on quickly so why not get the best out of him, use to get into the Champions League and bin him off. We can't keep relying on hard working players like Maxi and Kuyt because it will only get you so far. And finding players like Suarez who are both hard working and have genuine quality is extremely difficult.
Some over reacting on this thread, people talking of selling their souls and lack of integrity if they want to see Tevez come. Dalglish hasn't denied us enquiring about Tevez and if he were to try and bring him to the club, same people wouldn't dare question Kenny's integrity or soul...would they?
Look at it this way; 1. city strengthen us means we could take points of utd... and tottenham 2. we are terrible and even tevez would improve us. 3. tevez is not a great player, he just is not, when on the pitch he works very hard and has skills but he is not a great player. 4. the guys is a merc and to be frank i don't see the attraction. Is 4th really worth so much as to whore ourselves for it considering it took city how long and how many silly buys to get there?
In all fairness Mancini grossly over-reacted, how they still haven't made up is beyond me. Furthermore Tevez hasn't contested the fact they've not paid him since he failed to warm-up that time. The next club looking to buy Suarez will be saying "god we don't want the racist guy with a biting issue"... Problems seem worse (and distorted) from the outside looking in TBH and regardless of whether Tevez is a dick (we do have others at the club - need we be reminded of the Bellamy golf club incident and his utterly crass language every match) he is nonetheless a fantastic striker and we're not in a position to turn down talent way beyond what we currently have when the opportunity is there.
Tevez = Donner Kebab Cheap & would do the job required. You can convince yourself you want one - need one almost. But ultimately you feel dirty and regret it in the morning!
Its a rock and a hard place frankly. On the one hand, he could completely destabilise the team, bringing in a player with a record of disruption like Tevez's. It could upset everything Kenny is trying to instill about playing 'together'. On the other hand, when he's on the pitch, he is extremely hard working and his record last season was 20 goals and 7 assists in 31 premier league appearances, in 09/10 it was 23 goals and 7 assists in 35 appearances, so he'd bring goals in abundance to the table. I suppose it depends on just how pragmatic you're prepared to be about it. We have Bellamy at the club, they must have trained together during the 09/10 season, so if there is really any sniff of truth about this, I hope Craig has been consulted to give the best possible picture of how Carlos is as a playing pro and whether there is any danger of destabilisation of the team. If I am honest, I will have to trust to Kenny's judgement on this. If Kenny does want to bring Carlos in on a loan deal to the end of the season, and Carlos is fit enough to start after a week at the club, then I have no problem with it in pragmatic terms. He and his agent may not be particularly ethical, but if he comes on a loan deal, gets pitch time and performs well and scores goals, then everyone gets something out of the deal. We get goals, Carlos gets a shop window and Citeh get a better offer at the end of the season...
tbh I have yet to regret a Doner Kebab. Well, apart from the time the paper didn't hold the grease. It'd run down my front and I didn't notice until I came round the next morning...
Couldn't agree more, we should take a leaf out of Spurs' books imo. They just get who they want to get regardless of issues, age etc and they are flying high. Why would it be a big deal if he wore the Liverpool shirt until the summer? No commitment, just playing so he can shine and get sold after May, it may be the best thing we've done in decades.
I hate it when threads digress but we have hit a topic close to my heart. If you want a good quality kebab, then go to Derby! Best kebabs!
Exactly - I think it might pose a problem if we signed him permanently but a loan deal would be ideal for both parties. Plus, Tevez hasn't been paid for a while so he will be 'desperate' to get back to earning again.
spurs... getting who they want.... short term.... thats what they look like to me. ever since comolli left there they've been "wheeling dealing" with god knows what kind of stuff going on in brown envelopes. Lets be frank here... friedal, do you get one or two more years max?? Adebayor, wants 200k per week and won't leave city for 100k per week at spuds.... modic and bale would go if someone offers the cash, they were signed by who? comolli and ramos.... parker? VDV wants out if demands not met... spurs are eventually going to have to own up to the fact that while they have an 11 they missed adebayor a lot when he was removed by city for thier game, some players are just looking round and some players are like king and friedal... Its not all roses and bright futures down the lane where wages will constrain them while city, utd and chelsea just splash the cash. the reality is spurs, liverpool and arsenal in the next 5 years will compete for one cl slot. who will spend the most to get it?
I'd rather be discussing said problems to be honest. As it stands it doesn't look like anyone will be trying to buy our players in the summer which says a lot.
I think the issue of recruitment is a problem when you don't have CL to offer. We don't seem to be in the league financially with Citeh or Chelski, so we NEED CL to at least be able to attract ambitious talent for whom money is not an issue. To do that we NEED to finish 4th this season, and this is why, if Kenny agrees to it (because if he's spoken to Craig, he'll know the character of Tevez better than any of us), I'd be happy to take Tevez on loan to the end of the season...
I think LFC and City would both be up to doing a loan deal for Tevez I suspect Tevez however has no interest in playing in England ever again, and I suspect he he is still in South America with no intention of leaving there unless a deal with an italian club can be done, and is willing to accept City pay him no wages whatsoever, until he gets a move out of the country
