Wee Davie on SSN outside the AoL and his words,"Dont be surprised to see Davies and Wayne Bridge today".

Now I have been calling for improvements but I do have faith in MON so whoever he brings in is OK with me. I'm sure that whoever it is will leave many edgy and will give cause for our nearest and dearest to have a dig, let them.

If MON thinks Davies and Bridge will help us get to the end of the season in better shape my view is he knows more than me so I will go with it.

In answer to those who ask why we are not going for x,y and z, simple answer, MON does not want them.

I trust MON 100%. He knows what he is doing.

Davies will bring experience to an inexperienced strike force. Our oldest striker is Bendnter who is only 24 so still very young. Davies will also bring some physical presence up front which no other striker will do for us. Bendnter, as we have all seen does not like high balls or challenging, and Wickham isn't mature or ready. So I would be up for Davies.

With regards to Wayne Bridge. How many of you have been crying out for a natural LB, more than 5 yrs?? Since we have returned to the prem. Now Bridge was an England Cap, won the league with Chelsea so he has some pedigree. Give him a few games to build sharpness up he will be FAR better than Richardson, who can vie with McClean for the LW spot.

So again I am 100% behind MON and will not complain over these signings.

MoN's blue print has always been to bring solid and unspectacular performers in first to build a solid foundation then add flair once he's acheived stability. look at what he did at villa, he only brought the likes of young and downing in once he had them steady.

although it would be very foolish to throw big sums of money after those two. I wquestion bridges desire and although davies will give 100% how many years does he have left in the tank?

well you don't have to care about the finances of the club i guess but i'd be worried about the drain its going to put on the coffers as a result when he's finished a la smith with us. you don't want to think that you can't sign someone to replace him until you've got him off the books. your finanaces are better than ours but thats the way we look at things now and it doesn't seem to be doing us any harm.

Davies, if he comes (rumours are he is about to sign an extension at Bolton), would be a short term solution. MON has said so himself, as he thinks the players we currently will be the long term solutions.

Bridge is a good player, and I am sure if he comes to Sunderland it will be to prove a point. he will want to show what he can do, so he can get out of Chelsea permanently

Davies is valued at 1 million by Bolton, and his wages wont be OTT so he wont be breaking the bank.

The other advantages Davies brings are

    1. The lessons Connor will learn from him; and
    2. His Christian name - the last striker called KEVIN we had did a decent job for us!

Spot on, mate. One of the ADVANTAGES of Davies to my mind is that he's 34 and only asking for an 18 month contract to see his career out. We don't want to be spending a fortune on a long term striker contract until we've sorted the Gyan thing out in summer.

Davies will do a good short term job and that's exactly what we were looking for.

I have banged on about this before, MON will use the window short term.
If the players he signs or loans do better than expected we are totally in a win win situation.
My son had his doubts about Davies and the following is practically word for word what I said to him two weeks ago!

“Someone like Davies would improve the squad but we would also get a senior player who could teach Connor Wickham to play centreforward, improve him,” said O’Neill. “That would be excellent, someone to step in and obviously help us long the way would be great. The young lads we have here would learn an awful lot from him.”
    MON the other day!

Anyone who has read my previous posts knows I said this on here weeks ago too.
Lots of people disagreed with me then. :p

I agree and if we agree that MON is a blessing, a good manager and will take us to were we want to be then its sit back and trust time.I would like Messi but it aint going to happen.

Too soon in his tenure to be looking at long term signings like Messi imho.
He may take Ronaldo on loan as cover for McClean mind!

I'm very surprised in this complete blind faith in MoN. Some people are acting like he's literally the perfect manager and the best manager on the planet.

Well he ain't. Every manager in history has had fallacies. Every single one. O'Neill has made some dubious signings in the past, so I think this blind faith is misplaced somewhat.

    Cue torrent of abuse.

The problem is chappaz, he has only been here what, 8 weeks, this window has come far too soon for him, or we didnt get him in earlier, one of the 2.

Cant really expect him to get £10 million players in this window, as they may fail miserably as well.

Am i enthralled with these signins, not in the least, but its cover that we need, i would have loved us to sign Cisse, (either of them) but it hasnt happened. Lets just give them the rest of this year, if we win tomorrow night we could go 8th, who would have contemplated that 8 weeks ago, not me thats for certain.

All we can do is trust in MON, we cant do much else, if they fail they fail, as long as we dont go down, which i dont "think" will happen now, then he can make a mark in the summer.

If in the summer he gets 34 yr olds (heskey for 1) then thats the time to think, hmmm, now though, its January, most players you will be paying double for, and are they really worth it.
