Yes, Thomas Eisfeld. GOTCHA trollface.jpg..., anyone know who this guy is? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...et-sign-Thomas-Eisfeld.html?ito=feeds-newsxml Not sure how reliable this is, but there you go.
Doesn't seem to have played for the German youth set up even. However the BD Academy is very well regarded. He is 19 and has had a successful return from an ACL tear last year (The stats quoted are all post surgery). He would not qualify as home-grown so there must be something about him the scouts like. I think this i indication of how sparse the "creative midfield" market is right now, U21ish players like Mata/Goetze/Hazzard are far from the finished article, but commanding huge fees and wages, so perhaps hitting the next generation before they become stars is the best move. I would say this is a back-up punt in case we cant get a bigger names in the summer. At 400K it isn't going to be that expensive and if they like the look of him it is worth a shot. I realize that the rabid majority will ironically call Wenger mad, but buying this type of player is what has saved us over the years.
If he wanted a 19 year old from dortmund that isn't Mario Gotze, how about Moritz Leitner instead? At least he plays for the first team. Typical Wenger. bet this guy is awful.
Because his peers have made the Dortmund first team, yet he's still in the reserves. He can't be very good.
Very negative assumption to make. He's out of contract in the summer so it's entirely possible that they didn't want to give him opportunities as it's not worth it for them if he's off at the end of the season. Fergie's done pretty much the same with Morrison and Pogba.
But you were having a go at signing someone with potential. Yes the powers that be should sign more proven players, but who cares if he signs a player with potential?
Yeah, I think Spurs did it pretty well. A mix of both; potential in Luka, Bale, Lennon, Walker, Dawson (despite him being rubbish). Then proven players in Ade, Parker, VDV, Friedal. Still dont know why Arsenal didnt sign Samba instead of Per.
I guarentee you that if Ade, Parker or Friedal played for us, our fans would jeer them off the field. I think they already did with Ade.
Another youngster. Ahh I see he's bargain basement. No wonder Wenger was in for him. He after all is a man who builds for the future. Trouble is we have no present and our past is riddled with disappointments. The victories were all in the distant past. There lies the record of Arsene Wenger. In any other sport he would be seen as a has been. I'm not saying this young player isn't any good or won't be BUT our needs are in the present. If we have nothing today, where is the promise of tomorrow?
Look one thing Wenger has done better than just about ANY other top manager is buying young players. (Fabregas, Vieira, Anelka, Toure, Clichy, Chamberlain, Flamini, Diarra, Song, Lauren, Van Bronkhurst etc..etc.. prove that at least.) Dortmund currently have an exceptional academy. If we're signing a youngster chances are he's decent.
Actually, we should ignore Dortmund. There is a hugely talented young midfielder for Monchengladbach, valled Patrick Herrmann. He's not too well known, so he could be pretty affordable. He's an out and out playmaker, the sort we need. he's only 20, so he fits the Wenger youth policy too.
Just found out, this Eisfeld is injury prone, that's why he hasn't made so much of a leap. Great, Diaby mk2.
If he does come, will he even be playing and if he does play, is it a case of lamb being thrown into a lion's den? We have a youngster who is quite the business by all counts. His name is Ryo Miyaichi. Some call him Ryodinho or the Japanese Messi. Sounds to me like someone who should be playing 1st team football but he isn't. Why? Wenger seems to go round in circles with these youngsters. We have several and he's buying more and they are anywhere but on the pitch
Ryo is not ready. That's is pretty clear. He needs another loan spell. As for this kid from Dortmund, he is a player that will not be thrown in. He is out of contract in the summer and its a good move by the club to get him in and give him half a season in the reserves in England. Wenger assessed him yesterday and after no doubt the scouts watching all his games have together decided that he is worth the punt. There is zero risk here and if he turns out to be a star then its going to look like another piece of great business.
