I think that I am safe in telling this now as it quite clearly is not going to happen. I have 2 good contacts for imformation at Carrow Road. One is my regular golfing partner and the other my son in law. One is involved at Carrow Road on a daily basis and the other is employed by a media organisation with close regular links to NCFC. They have no contact with each other. Like most genuine sources of this nature they do not tell me very much but when they do it is always 100% accurate. Over the years I have been told of transfers a day or so before they have become public knowledge and was also told we were going to try and replace Gunn with Lambert before any approach was made to either Lambert or Colchester. I have always got imformation from one or the other and have never had the same imformation from them both. Imagine my horror when over Christmas I was told by both of them that Grant Holt would not still be a Norwich player by the end of the transfer window. The moral of this story - if imformation sources as good as these can get it wrong just think how unreliable normal rumours and stories written in the national press, to sell newspapers, are.

Nah, never anything to worry about. As 1950 says, even decent sources get it wrong. Must have given you a fright when they said it, though!

Probably because you were given 'imformation' as opposed to 'information' <doh>

You are of course correct kind Sir and I apologise. Amazingly if you google ' imformation ' you get 18m hits - if you google 'information' you only get 11m hits. I am obviously not the first to make that mistake!!

1950s, yours is a story told many times, sometimes folk with connections to a football club get to hear the rumours and they turn out to be true, but as your story shows, most of the time, only the people in the board room actually know what is happening
