January Transfer Window - The Rumour Thread

This Nixon bloke said on Twitter at lunchtime today that it was Upson who we originally went for. Putting two and two together (but maybe coming up with five), I'd suggest that when Stoke said no though, they offered us Collins instead - and that's where that came from.

Interesting therefore if we're giving Upson another go.

 

I was about to say that it was ages since we signed anyone.

Wouldn't want upson on a permanent, but think he would be brilliant on a loan deal.

 

Matthew Upson will have to change his first name to Dan, we seem to like the name in the back 4

 

I can't see us signing anyone else tomorrow.

 

Don't forget people that the loan window opens again soon so with Fonte back tomorrow, we don't necessarily need to rush for a CB.

 

Is he defo back? For me the only point of a new CB is back up I cant see where we would get a better CB than Jos or Jose, if they get back fit soon and jaidi and seaborne get fit were fine IMO.

 

Cortese has made mistakes, everyone does one example was the photo ban last year which was always going to be a stupid idea. However his motavation is flawless his desire for success amazing and his accurracy in decision making and general leadership is better than almost every other chairman in the land. I dont agree when people say he never has or never will make a bad call its not possible to stop it but hes an awsome chairman and I wouldnt swap him for anyone.

I echo this sentiment.

Adkins has only made one mistake in the market, Jonno Forte.

Other than that: Jos Hooiveld, Danny Fox, Jack Cork, Richard Chaplow, Steve De Ridder, Billy Sharp, Tadanari Lee. - All either proven or promising.

 

I wouldn't say that was a mistake.

He got a player which he used to work with that could fill the gaps and provide an impact or two.

I do t think Forte has done to bad, he's just never been given a constant chance, like Ryan Dickson.

 

If it wasn't for Forte we'd still be in league 1 .

 

A valid point. I should perhaps change my statement to, long term impact and contribution.

Don't get me wrong, I will love Forte for those 2 goals, but he is a poor player.

 

i think if we sign a CB it will be next week when the loan window is still open, there is no rush, i think Adkins will focus on the game tomorrow and not on new signings. can sharp play tomorrow?

 

Nope, not done in time for the midday deadline. Hopefully it will spur the players on though.

 

Yeah,he is pretty poor.But he kind of saved us...Adkins only bought him to be an impact player.

 

If we were to get another cb with a bit of prem experience in our squad all of a sudden starts to look really decent.

 

We'll get a CB on loan maybe next week.

For now all focus will be on the game tomorrow night
