Looks like Ruben is heading back to spain on loan for the rest of the season Taken from his twitter "is official of wednesday to spain direccion to san roque del lepe onloan until the end of the season need to get confidence and experience.." and it looks like Tosan Popo is going with him. Seems like a good deal to me as he needs game time to develop and although the raw talent is there, he is not at the current level of performance that is required to break into the charlton first team. As for Popo i've not seen anything of him so will leave it to others on here to comment about him! Just wondering though how good is the level of football they will be playing out there? I can't imagine the spainish "league 1" equvilent is anywhere near ours.
I bet it's a lot warmer though! I think this is the end of him at Charlton, because who is going to monitor his performances out there? As you suggest, it would need someone who is familiar with the standard, both in that league and in ours, well enough to make the comparison. Also I cannot see the point of Popo going. They have got a zillion Popos in Spain. The question with players like him is whether they are up to the mud and guts of the Football League. Tippy-tappy football on hard pitches won't prove anything.
Goodness only knows what this is all about. Unfortunately, I think you're right, eddie this is the last we'll see of him. Such a shame, as when I saw him at Welling pre-season, I was really impressed - just thought he needed to fill out a bit. IMO, a season-long loan to a League Two club, along the lines of Michael Smith's loan would have served him and us better. And what's Popo going as, he's a bit small to be a minder. All very odd. I'm sure there's a master plan here, but for the life of me, I can't see it. Let's wait and see what the O/S says, it's usually several days behind the twittering (tweeting?)
Isn't that Jiminez's other team? If so then I'm sure he has plenty of people other there to monitor the squad.
Of course. I was posting out of my a*s again. That puts a more hopeful spin on it. Still can't see him coming back to win a place in our Championship squad though.
