I love the fact reports suggesting that Sharp will be on significantly less than the £28k per week Leicester offered him as he just wants to play for Saints. Put's that argument to bed once and for all.....
This has probably cropped up as a rumour somewhere already as there was something on Sky the other day about Wolves, Sunderland, West Brom, Celtic & Rangers enquiring. Have also seen something on Sky that Sunderland have had an approach turned down, but I have heard from a mate at the club this afternoon that we are also mooted to be interested but in a loan move. Cant see it myself especially in their predicament and with Sunderland approach rejected, however maybe we might be offering a better fee if we got promoted or something. As I say can't see it myself, but would be a good move if we could nab him I'd think. Also heard that we're thinking Higginbotham instead of Collins as that has fallen through. Noticed Higginbottham hasn't been playing recently, but had a feeling that was due to injury so don't know. Tick tock, tick tock.
With out current squad, I wouldn't say no to Davies on a 6 month contract. But if Sharp does sign, then no thank you. Davies would hardly kick a ball for us. As for Higgy or Collins or anyone else, I don't really care. Any CB (especially left-sided CB, with Seaborne probably still out for a while) with Premiership experience will do me right now.
It's a new trend, every Championship side vying for promotion has to accumulate as many strikers as possible. West Ham are top due to them having the most and Leicester are also keen to buy more striker as six is not enough (although they also want 29 defenders by the end of the window too). Saints need to catch up by buying in bulk. In all seriousness though I presume this means Southampton are planning on playing more of a 4-3-3 formation for the rest of the season or they see Lee and Guly as midfield outlets.
If we had a team of 11 strikers we would probably score an average of 25 goals per game, although we might let that many in ourselves. Still, it would be very exciting.
Maybe another one too? @Wattsypics: "After sharp signing photo it's time for the next one it's a busy night. Not sure what position he's going to play answers on a post card!"
