A couple that seem to be used more and more, that really make me cringe....

    1) Any way,shape or form.

    2) Thank you very much 'INDEED' - when a reporter finishes off an interview.

    What 'gets your goat' ??

Not a cliche really but the amount of times footballers say 'y'know' mid interview. I saw Robbie Savage say it 34.8 times per sentence on BBC website last week.

The cliche that West Ham are a brilliant footballing side. Everytime they need a new manager the press insist the fans want someone who plays football; it's almost as if Arsene Wenger and Guardiola have studied at Upton Park.

    a) ...down to the wire
    b) taking every game as it comes
    c) a real six-pointer
    d) plucky... (insert name of any 'small club' coming up against a 'big club')
    e) any comment about a current game that refers back to the result of a game 5/10/20/80 years ago

    and about 30 others.

Aagain not a cliche, but ITV/ESPN commentary, when they spend more time talking about the crowd then the game! Perfect example yesterday, arsenal vs villa, 5mins into the second half the camera man zooms in on people getting back to there seats and they proceed to talk about it...there's the games still going on!

    ...rant over :)

Could be worse... what about if they decide to have a Ad break whilst the game is still going-on ! a la Everton a couple of seasons ago- and missed a goal!
Thats one reason why F1 was never any good on ITV, so many times they went for an Ad and miss one of the (rare) bits of real action.

F1 on sky will be awesome. Damon Hill instead of David Coulthard, and Georgie Thompson is involved somewhere too...

A bit of a general whinge but the cliche thing led me to it. Commentators who repeat inane phrase eg Wilkins "my word". Matt Smiths staccato delivery. John Motson. Clive tyldesley etc. And being non-pc for a sec, why do people with speech impediments (eg Alan smith) get jobs as commentators? Fair play to them but you wouldn't employ blind people as lollipop men or women.

I have had more than enough of "winning ugly" lately. It's a fairly recent one. Who started it? It's not even grammatically correct. It ought to be "winning uglily". Er, no, that doesn't sound right either ...

You'll get an offer for celebrity big brother now!!

Cliches- not so much a cliche, but anytime a player says "ya know" in interviews.

"game over" only for that team to come back.

"goal of the season" - for it then to
    Not make the top 3.

"magic of the cup" - hate that the most.

"Ain't no party like an s club party"- yeah right.

I'm sorry stu, but it's a large factor for why I don't like the cup! God that cliche grates me.
