This Tuesday night Jan 31st. As requested by Matth 10 Man Uts supporter this is for fans of both clubs to air the thoughts, views, team/s etc. All are more than WELCOME. The more comments the better I will make my contributions regarding the game later. thanks in advance Potteremouth but I would prefer (Pott's) Lastly I would like to wish Manchester Utd ALL the BEST AFTER Tuesday night of course. As is the usual, I live in hope for a decent game and a pt but will not be too dissapointed if the worst happens. And we win.
Personally I think that both Rooney and Nani will be playing. I think that SAF will Play Lindegard Smalling Ferdinand Evans Evra Nani Scholes Carrick Giggs Welbeck Rooney I do think SAF will want to win handsomely after losing to Liverpool in the Cup. I just hope that when we have the chance to go forward TP allows them to do so rather than place the Berlin wall up as no doubt it will crumble! Call me cynical but I do not expect anything tomorrow night.
If ever there was a chance that a little team can beat one of Englands greatest teams, then surely this must be the time for utd to beat the MIGHTY POTTERS.
Not according to the Beeb, but Rio should be back which will be a big boost at the back and will give us a commanding voice when defending set pieces. I reckon we'll be: -----------Lindegaard -Rafael-Ferdinand-Smalling-Evra -Valencia--Carrick--Giggs--Park- --------Welbeck-Hernandez Rafael and Park did well against Liverpool so I reckon they'll still be in. Maybe Berb partnering Welbeck and Hernandez to give us that bit of extra creativity to break through what may end up being a well parked bus based on some of the comments above!
Swarbs seems to think that Rio will give United a " commanding voice " when defending set pieces. Rio will also have a commanding voice when remonstrating with the referee as to what descisions he should make in United's favour.
I'm going tomorrow quite early (Leaving at about 4:30pm and will probably arrive in Manc around 5:30-6pm) Where are the best places for away fans to drink?
With Matty a doubt and Pulis refusing to play Pennant, it will be even more backs to the wall than expected. Comfortable 2-0 win for them.
http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereve...-boss-sir-alex-ferguson-relishing-stoke-test? Sir Alex Ferguson is relishing the prospect of his Manchester United side facing the unique challenge presented by Stoke at Old Trafford. After Saturday's FA Cup defeat to Liverpool, an encounter with Tony Pulis' battlers would not normally be viewed as the ideal method of recovery. Yet, in much the same way as the Reds tended to overcome Bolton during the era under Sam Allardyce when they managed to get under the skin of all the other big clubs, they have emerged relatively unscathed in their meetings with Stoke. A draw at the Britannia Stadium in September represented the first points dropped to the Potteries outfit since they were promoted to the Premier League in 2008. And United must go back to 1976 for their last Old Trafford loss to Stoke, courtesy of a late goal from club legend Alan Bloor. "You know what Tony Pulis's team will be like, they are the same all the time," said Ferguson. "They will be 100% committed and they always get stuck in. You have to cope with that. "To be honest, I always enjoy it to. "It was like when we used to play Wimbledon. No-one used to look forward to playing against them but my team started to because it was a physical challenge and in terms of taking the ball and playing football. "Stoke are a different team altogether but they still have the same qualities of never giving in, so it is always a good challenge for us."
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16789760.stm Defender Robert Huth believes Stoke City could be set to face Manchester United at a bad time, following their FA Cup exit at Liverpool on Saturday. Speaking to BBC Radio Stoke, Germany international Huth joked: "That's brilliant news for us that they lost. "You know what they're like when they lose - they come back even stronger." The Potters go to Old Trafford on Tuesday, having lost on all three previous visits since winning promotion to the Premier League in 2008. Stoke's last victory at Manchester United came in April 1976, when Alan Bloor scored the only goal in a 1-0 win. Peter Crouch's first goal for the club was enough for Tony Pulis's side to earn a 1-1 draw against United at the Britannia Stadium in September, and Huth believes it is possible that they can repeat the feat on Tuesday. "In any given game, someone can get sent off, you can get a penalty, so of course we've got a chance," said Huth, who scored in Saturday's FA Cup win at Championship side Derby County. "It's a massive game for us. I don't think I've ever got anything from there so it will be great if we can perform and get a point or even win. "We're looking forward to it but we know it's going to be a really tough game."
Can't believe that myth still persists. The 'massive backlash' from the defeat to Blackburn was a 3-0 loss to Newcastle, and I can't remember the last time we actually went out and hammered a team after suffering a big loss. Just goes to show that people have very long memories in football!
Sgt Re your post above.. you trust our guys to get something away from home these days? So do I Sgt. One difference.. It's at Old Trafford, It's Man Utd and they are hurting like crazy. They will be well up for the game so we need some luck and everyone to be at their very best and some. If I was T.P. this would be my Pre match speech whaterver they call it. " Lads, I KNOW this is O.T. and there will be approx 70 thousand out there, I counted them but when I reached 70,000 I S*** myself and thought we don't have a chance tonight" But don't let bit worry you. Go out there and give it everything, GO for the win and if we lose, everyone will say. Well done lads and even though you may well still get beaten. At least you can say we tried boss. Our fans are happy enough well done fella's, you worked aard. Gave it 100 per cent we move on. But nay, T.P. will tell everone bar Sorensen or Begovic not to cross the halfway line until we're two or three goals down, If that happens let's hope it's the 94th min and at least we didn't get hammered. I'm not sure but I think? there is a stat somewhere which say's. EVERY team to visit O.T. this season has had a least ONE SHOT on target, ie making there keeper actually "save" the ball. What are the odds that we (Stoke) don't manage ONE all game? I think we will but don't bet on it. Would be well happy with a 2 nil loss. That said, as proved a few times. IF of course this won't happen but IF we did play without fear and had a right go with Pennant and or another couple up front. Who knows but I fear T.P. will scupper any chance of that. Pennant will not start, Matty E is doubtful, or injured. I never did know WHY do they say doubtful when someone has a thigh strain? YOU are either FIT or NOT FIT. Palacios is fit, iv'e seen him training this week today actually. But, if it's blowing any more than 5mph of a wind, it rains or the temp will drop below the average of North Africa at this time of the year simple. He won't play will he Tony? We've had every excuse known to man. Piles, the wind, not match fit, not ready yet? Excuse me Tony but if Palacios is "Not ready yet" WHY did you pay EIGHT Million quid to Spurs? Just wondering. Or was that to Harry and we're not supposed to menton that, oops I just did. Someone just told me, it might snow in Manchester on Tuesday, around 7m don't tell T.P. if he hears that before they leave for Old Trafford he will have wasted his time, just like I have above. And Park the bus. WHICH do you prefer fellow Stokie's Plan A. Too lose like gladiator's well I actually mean go down fighting but without the swords, helmet and all that malarky. Oh, and no fisty cuffs.. and real Lions, just fighting as in spirit with the right men in action, in the right positions from 1 through to 11. i.e. ATTACK and see what happens. Or Plan B Just don't turn up(park that bus) and defend all night and still get hammered. YOUR choice guys over to you. OH S**T I just realised this will be on the Utd board too! I was the one who put the thread there in the first place.... Silly me. It's easier to say SORRY that delete all this C**P above so i'll risk it. P.S. anyone who wants a shot at this Moderators job apply within.
http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-F...erguson-reflects-on-ryan-shawcross-sale.aspx? Sir Alex has admitted he would have kept Ryan Shawcross had he known Gerard Pique would start pining for a return to Barcelona. The Stoke City skipper returns to Old Trafford again for the Barclays Premier League clash on Tuesday night and has forged a reputation as one of the most reliable centre-backs in the division. A permanent deal with the Potters was agreed by the boss back in January, 2008 due to the potential of Pique, only for the Spaniard to move back to his homeland later that year to enjoy great success with club and country. "It always grieves me when I have to release a young player of great potential," Sir Alex wrote in his programme notes for United Review. "And Shawcross certainly fell into that category. "He had the misfortune - though he perhaps doesn't see it that way considering the success he has had with Stoke - of coming through along with a number of other young defenders. "This was the era of Gerard Pique and we kept him at Ryan's expense, only I didn't know that Gerard was growing homesick and, soon after, he was telling us he wanted to go back to Spain. "He has prospered with Barcelona, as we know, and, if I had known he wanted away then, we would have kept Ryan Shawcross."
Man Utd Starting XI: Amos, Smalling, Ferdinand, evans, Evra, Valencia, Carrick, Scholes, Park, Berbatov Hernandez Live On http://WatchMUFC.com
Stoke team tonight. Surprisingly attacking. Sorensen Wilkinson-Shawcross-Huth-Wilson Pennant-Palacios-Whitehead-Walters Crouch Jones No De Gea for United. He's "ill"
Never has there been a better time for Stoke to beat Man United. Come on TP don't park the bus let's smash them!
Jones over Jerome??? that's a joke! Pennant and Jerome are obviously going to be TP's 63 minute game changers!
I think that XI was with De Gea in mind Waddo, our taller men on him from set pieces was the plan I think. I think Jerome would've played otherwise.
