Cardiff away has now been re-arranged for Tuesday March 13th... http://www.hullcityafc.net/page/NewsDetail/0,,10338~2593262,00.html?
WOW. Well we all knew it would be a tuesday night since last week and now we know the date. Just leaves Brighton @ home now to arrange which i guess will be late march or maybe late April when the race really hots up. Tuesday night 24th april after Notts Forest @ home anyone ? tuesday 6th march TWS @ home tuesday 13th march cardiff away tuesday 20th march Southampton @ home a busy month in March but at least City will have had that 2 week break at the end of February. Fresh N rarin to go.
Yeah, but we'd still have the same fixture problem after it, we'd just have played an extra game against Stoke. Midweek after Coventry would be my choice for Brighton, but I can't see it since we have two games in 3 days the next weekend. (Easter)
Saturday showed us that we don't have enough strength in depth to play Saturday/Tuesday games regularly, we only need to lose a couple of key players and we'll start slipping. I hope Nick has realised this, there's still today and tomorrow.
That's 8 games in March, I can't see entertaining the idea of adding a 9th game into the month. Brighton game could well be played sometime after the Easter weekend, as Tickler says probably between Forest and West Ham as we have the Barnsley game the mid week before.
And if we need to rotate the squad at all the majority of the back up players didn't cover themselves in glory at the weekend.
I'd imagine the loan window will come into play. Losing a defender scares the crap out of me. I think we could cope with losing a midfielder or forward or two, except McKenna. Then I'd worry.
Oh, depending on FA Cup TV games why not just stick Brighton back to the Tuesday/Wednesday after the postponed date? Keeps it out of the way of any potential replays for them (they'd be the following week). Hopefully they'll be Saturday lunchtime rather than Sunday tea time.
I'd add Koren to your list, but I agree, up front we've got plenty of players that can come in and miss chances just as effectively as the current starters.
We certainly won't be buying anyone. As you know with regards to loans we have options available to us, but there isn't anything happening there imminently. I know Sat was terrible, but one bad game doesn't mean our squad is suddenly terrible. Dudg was everyone's preferred choice for left back before Sat, he was rubbish on Sat so is he now not good enough? I know we haven't got the biggest squad by any stretch but I do think many have over reacted on here!
If we lost Koren, I'd play 4-4-2 with 2 wingers. We don't miss many chances. Apart from the odd game, we don't make that many to miss.
I was rather hoping that Saturday might nudge Nick into changing his mind, at least on the striker, I think it would double our chances of securing a top six finish.
Nonsense. 2+ weeks off, come back fresh - the squad is fit and young, they should be able to handle it. It could work for us actually. My only grumble is Cardiff away on a tuesday night ? ggrrrrrrr
I'm not going to say to much on the public board, but I know Nick was very happy with King on Sat and that is why we aren't currently acting on any possible loans.
